SILENT HILL 2 The response to the fogtastic Silent Hill 2 remake has been positive, especially given the original’s iconic status in gaming history. Critics have praised the remake for its faithful recreation of the atmosphere and narrative, while also enhancing the graphics and gameplay mechanics. The shift to an over-the-shoulder camera perspective has been particularly noted for adding a sense of realism and immersion, aligning the gameplay experience more closely with modern standards while still retaining the haunting essence of the original. Between this and the announcement of a new Alien Isolation, horror gaming appears to be in rude health.

STEAM NEXT FEST Steam Next Fests play an increasingly crucial role in enhancing the visibility of indie games within the crowded gaming marketplace, especially at a time of year when franchise sequels are lining up to steal all the thunder. These events attract a wide audience eager to discover new titles and the sheer scale of Steam Next Fests — often featuring hundreds of games — means that developers can gain substantial exposure that would otherwise be hard to achieve. Back in June the likes of Only Human and Tiny Glade captured the attention of the masses. We wait to find out which of October’s games will.

PARTY JAMBOREE As the Switch approaches the end of its run, Super Mario Party Jamboree aims to reinvigorate interest in the platform with an extensive multiplayer experience. It features over 110 minigames, the most in the franchise’s history, and introduces new game boards, including online modes for up to 20 players. Additionally, the game’s robust online capabilities and unique co-op modes, such as Bowser Kaboom Squad, highlight Nintendo’s commitment to evolving party games. Thus, with its blend of nostalgia and fresh content, Jamboree is poised to give all those drifting Joy-Cons a decent final work out.
