Lead AI Engineer Guildford, Cheshire, Hybrid With a particular focus on the fields of racing AI and open-world systems. You’ll solve interesting problems at the forefront of games technology, building on strong foundations, shaping careers and unlocking the potential in everyone around you.
IF YOU HAD TOLD ME five, two, or even one year ago that I would be living in England and working on Need for Speed I would have laughed. Yet here I am today, loving it. As a recent transplant from Vancouver, Canada, I have been overwhelmingly impressed by the warmth and talent of the Criterion team, and am incredibly excited about the future of the studio and the games we are creating. What I love most about making video
games is the daily evidence that we, as development teams, have the power, and the privilege, of bringing ideas to life and sharing them with millions of people around the world. Combine this with the opportunity to explore the future of Need for Speed - a franchise that has thrilled players for almost 30 years - it truly is an honour!
MY JOURNEY AT CRITERION began almost 17 years ago, starting back on Burnout Paradise. I’ve done bits in a few different areas in that time, but have mainly specialised in UI. Criterion has changed a huge amount over that time, and continues to evolve. Criterion is a flexible, understanding, and respectful environment where everyone has the confidence and support to do their very best work. This flexible approach has really shone
in the last few years, as the studio has embraced WFH and hybrid work. This, with great support from the rest of EA, has helped make it a positive change, where we’re better able to fit work around our lives and collaborate with people in multiple locations much more naturally. Even after all these years, I’m excited to see what Criterion becomes next!
