Matt Broughton spoke with CEO of Midjiwan AB, Christian Lövstedt, about the team’s perspective on their flagship game 10 years in, how the developers approach adding new features and what the future looks like

Matt Broughton: Congratulations on 10 years of The Battle of Polytopia. When the game first launched, did you ever expect you’d still be supporting it after so many years? Christian Lövstedt: When Felix created The Battle of Polytopia, his goal was to design a strategy game specifically for mobile: deep yet simple, and free from aggressive monetisation. He essentially built the game he wanted to play. He never imagined that so many players would share that passion, let alone that it would maintain such a massive following ten years later. That enthusiasm extends to the entire Midjiwan team; we all still play the game regularly because of its endless replayability.
