STAYING AHEAD OF THE CURVEBALL

Matt Broughton caught up with Curveball’s COO, Andrew Naunton… A

ndrew, tell us a bit about your background and how Curveball came to be? Following University, like many I wasn’t

sure which path to go after. I adored gaming and spotted a gap in the market for republishing out-of- print titles. One of our first orders was 6,000 Metal Gear Twin Snakes on Gamecube from Konami… and Curveball was formed. Going from a wholesaler to help lead Curveball always felt like the natural next steps given my passion for the gaming industry. You name a console; I’ve likely got it!

Hit us with the Curveball pitch. Curveball’s core is total passion for all videogames. From Elden Ring to Donkey Kong Jr on the Game and Watch. What Curveball Games does is twofold: we can put your digital game in a box and gain you a revenue stream you otherwise didn’t have via our established global physical sales network. Or we can co fund with Devs and offer a full-service publishing

agreement from inception through to release and beyond, delivering sales and revenue years after release.

Which two projects do you think epitomises what Curveball does best? It is hard to pick just two, however the ones that spring to mind immediately are Sker Ritual which we released the physical version in collaboration with our good friends at Wales Interactive. This was our proof of concept and showed us that we could take a previously released digital game and sell fantastic units around the world. It proved to us that physical media is still a huge part of people’s lives and it directly links with how Curveball Games originated as a company. The second

project would be Planted! Which we are publishing alongside the very talented Cloth Cat Studios. This is their most ambitious project
