LONDON CHOCOLATE FORUM SPECIAL

LCF Speaker Profile

Six generations of passion for Venezuelan cacao

Claudia Franceschi, Marketing Director of Franceschi Chocolate will address the London Chocolate Forum to discuss the diversity, creativity and community work in Venezuela

Give us some background on your career?

CF: My Name is Claudia Franceschi and I am the 6th generation of a family with a passion for Venezuelan Cacao that has run into our veins since the day we were born. I was part of the project to diversify our cacao exporting company into the chocolate business so I am proud to say that I am a cofounder of Franceschi Chocolate. Currently I am the Marketing Director of the business for the international market.

Give us a brief flavour of what you will be covering at the London Chocolate Forum.

CF: We are going to cover the history of our 200 year old family business in the cacao business and our beginnings in the chocolate making industry, also the importance of diversifying the business, and being creative for a company that is based in a country such as Venezuela. Finally but important as well we would like to talk of the work we have done to impact in a positive way in the communities and our work force and how that makes our business stronger.

What made you want to participate at the London Chocolate Forum?

CF: We want to participate in such an amazing event because it is a perfect opportunity to showcase Franceschi Chocolate and also the San Jose Group. Additionally we can show a different perspective of chocolate

as we are a company from Venezuela that has to compete with the big player in Europe. We think that high quality products, made from the best cacao in the world, and an amazing story give us an advantage.

What are you most looking forward to at the event?

CF: I would like to meet new people to exchange ideas about the industry in regards the quality, social impact and new innovations in the industry. Also expand our network of contacts in the UK and Europe.

What exciting innovations have you seen in the chocolate world so far?

CF: We are a bit behind with the technological advancements in chocolate because our company does not focus on this but the new machinery that is coming out is mind blowing. However one side of innovation we are seeing is the relevance of cacao to consumers today, and how the culture is changing to adopt new ingredients in the chocolate industry.

Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself.

CF: 1) I am very passionate about promoting the cacao culture in Venezuela and I take time not only to promote our brand but also other small companies in Venezuela. 2) I love the beach as part of being from a Caribbean country. 3) I love dancing, as a latin woman, music is very important in our lives.

Anything else to add?

CF: You can find me at @claudiafranceschichoco on Instagram. See you in London!
