LONDON CHOCOLATE FORUM SPECIAL

How to navigate the digital marketing landscape

Chlöe Davison and Jamie MacKenzie of Peaky Digital give us a taste of what they aim to cover as keynote speakers of the London Chocolate Forum 2023

Give us a brief flavour of what you will be covering at the London Chocolate Forum.

CD: The talk at the London Chocolate Forum will cover all things social media. Giving actionable takeaways and insights into the digital marketing landscape and showcasing how brands within the chocolate industry can use social media to their advantage. We will help brands understand how social media can be a crucial element in their wider marketing strategy. JM: For any modern day marketer, data is an essential part of the process and it helps set the scene of the environment that we all work in. This makes a big difference to things such as what products are selling and why, which channels are working best, all the way down to what wording resonates best with each audience. We want to share the data and trends that we’re seeing,

but I’m also excited to be able to share some insights into my area of expertise: Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and go into some of the things that Google assesses when deciding why to rank one website over another.

Give us a brief flavour of what you will be covering at the London Chocolate Forum.

CD: To be able to share my knowledge of the marketing industry and to help brands grow and develop. But also to meet and talk with some amazing and exciting brands and companies! JM: We’ve got a boat-load of insights to share, so for us it’s about sharing the knowledge but also getting to meet more people that work in an industry that excites us. For us, there are plenty of opportunities to meet with other

people in the digital marketing world, but it’s super-important to us that we take the opportunity to meet with people and businesses that rely on the same insights that we do, but approach it from a different perspective.

What are you most looking forward to at the event?

CD: I am most looking forward to learning about the efforts and developments that are going on behind the scenes in the chocolate industry - specifically, the drive for a more

sustainable future and how these developments will impact the end product that consumers receive. JM: I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone and hopefully build some long-lasting relationships. Genuinely I’m just very excited to find out more about people and their businesses, find out more about some of the issues they might be facing with their marketing at the moment and hopefully share some insights that might be helpful!

What exciting innovations have you seen in the chocolate world so far?

CD: The growing interest in fine and carefully crafted products. We are seeing this pattern across all e-commerce industries at the moment. With people opting to buy direct from the source and shopping from small businesses. JM: Innovation can be so many things - for us one of the most exciting things has come from one of our clients, who are household names in the chocolate & confectionery industry in Europe, but are breaking ground for the first time in the UK. They have just recently started appearing in supermarkets

across the UK, and we’re really enjoying helping them spread their exposure and watching them grow over here.

Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself.

CD: 1) I have a horse called Hovis, yes like the bread 2) I actually did not study at university - I developed my skills in Digital Marketing through an apprenticeship 3) I’ve never watched Harry Potter - shocking I know! JM: 1) I’m a car enthusiast, currently restoring a 1969 Lancia Fulvia. 2) I can make balloon animals (disclaimer: your choices are “dog” or “giraffe”, and the giraffe is just the dog with a longer neck). 3) I have two dogs: Pingu, a Golden Retriever and Lilo, a Boston Terrier.

Anything else to add?

JM: I’m really looking forward to joining everyone at London Chocolate Forum, see you all there!
