Smart things Earlier this year, Samsung announced some key updates to its latest AI Bespoke Home Appliances. Its new Family Hub Refrigerator now includes AI Vision; using an internal camera it can identify certain fresh food items when put in or taken out and allows consumers to manage a shopping list that can also be checked from the SmartThings app. Users can also get recipe suggestions and manage product use-by dates. In floorcare, Samsung’s Bespoke Jet Bot Combo robo-vac uses upgraded AI Object Recognition to better detect objects in its path, and AI Floor Detect to switch modes between different surfaces to adjust the required settings. Not the only big name brand on the AI hype, LG offers its very own humanoid robotic assistant called AI Agent (right); it can move, learn, comprehend and engage in complex conversations – all while moving around the home and interacting with users through movements made possible by its articulated leg joints. The Agent can even act as a pet monitor and security guard, providing

home owners with the ability to see and care for their pets remotely and sending alerts if any unusual activity is detected. And of course it can connect to and control smart household devices via the LG ThinQ app.

The rise of the robots! Talking of robotics, since 2016, eufy – the smart home brand under Anker Innovations – has been at the forefront of innovation with its robot vacuums, including the S1 Pro, X10 Pro Omni and X8 Pro, offering the latest, ground-breaking cleaning technology.
And last month eufy was named the UK’s Number One Robot Vacuum Brand by Euromonitor in terms of retail value sales. To date, the brand has sold over 6.38 million products across 59 countries. Frank Zhu, Global President of Smart Innovations, comments: “We are committed to placing innovation and the needs of our consumers at the centre of everything we do, and with a robust pipeline of innovative products coming through I’m excited to see how eufy can go from strength to strength across robotic cleaning and home security, where we also have a market-leading range of products.” Meanwhile, iRobot’s latest invention is the Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot + AutoWash Dock, said to be the manufacturer’s “most advanced” robot vacuum and mop yet. Powered by iRobot OS, and also Matter compatible with the Apple Home ecosystem, the Roomba Combo 10 features new Enhanced Dirt Detect Technology as well as an Auto- Retract Mop and Dual Multi-Surface Brushes. Additionally, the AutoWash Dock automatically refills and recharges the robot, washes and dries its mopping pad, empties debris and self-cleans...
