etz is an award-winning German brand with a legacy spanning eight decades in the consumer electronics industry. Renowned for its commitment to innovation,

craftsmanship and quality, Metz has played a pivotal role in shaping the evolution of television and audio technologies in Germany and beyond.

Foundation and early history Metz was founded in 1938 by visionary entrepreneur Paul Metz in Zirndorf, Germany. The company began its journey producing radios and high-frequency technology devices, quickly earning a reputation for exceptional sound quality and sophisticated design. These foundational values laid the groundwork for the company’s long-standing success in the electronics sector.

Expansion into TV manufacturing A significant milestone in the company’s development came in 1955 when Metz introduced its first monochrome television set. The company continued to innovate, launching its first colour TV with 3D surround system in 1967 and keeping pace with technical advances by unveiling its first LCD television in 2005. These developments solidified Metz’s reputation as a pioneer in the TV industry.

Innovation and product development Metz introduced its proprietary 100Hz technology in 1990, offering smoother picture quality and a superior viewing experience. In 1995, Metz launched a modular TV concept, allowing components to be easily upgraded or replaced, a forward-thinking approach to product longevity and sustainability. As technology advanced, so did Metz’s

product range. In 2016, the company released its first OLED television, combining cutting- edge display technology with Metz’s trademark build quality. Today, the company offers a broad selection of high-end smart TVs, with a particular focus on OLED and QLED models designed to meet the demands of modern consumers.

Corporate evolution and integration with SKYWORTH

In 2015, Metz became a 100% subsidiary of the international SKYWORTH Group. This strategic partnership enabled Metz to realign its business strategy, resulting in the formation of Metz Consumer Electronics GmbH. The company restructured its operations by separating business units for TV, illumination and plastics technology, thereby sharpening its focus on its core strength: television manufacturing. The collaboration with SKYWORTH has provided Metz with access to global markets and

Product philosophy and brand development Metz is proud of its dual-brand strategy, which caters to different market segments. The Metz Classic line continues the tradition of German- engineered premium products, while METZ blue, introduced in 2018, represents a global brand with modern, feature-rich TVs designed for broader international markets. Central to the company’s product philosophy is its unwavering commitment to the ‘Made in Germany’ label. All Metz products are developed in Germany, ensuring strict quality control, reliability and comprehensive customer service.

Exclusive partnership with Euronics in the UK In recent months, Metz has formed a close partnership with Euronics and now distributes a large part of its TV range through Euronics member stores. This includes its series of QLED 4K UHD Smart TVs Powered by TiVo – the MQE7600ZUK range, which deliver an outstanding, high-quality viewing experience combined with exceptional value. Freely is built in, allowing viewers to stream live and on demand TV, all in one place, for free. As the first Metz QLED models to feature a matte finish panel screen – normally associated with more expensive TV products – these TVs guarantee users a glare-free experience, while the inclusion of proprietary Metz Eye Care technology ensures low blue light emissions and flicker- free viewing, with automatic brightness control. With a choice of four models (65”, 55”, 50” and 43”), prices start from just £379 (SRP) and each comes with a five year guarantee. As with all Metz products, these TVs also offer an excellent margin for retailers.
