CATA: Putting the brand firmly on the UK map

With more than 75 years of manufacturing expertise behind it, CATA is now stepping up its ambitions for the UK market. Through its growing CATA-branded portfolio — including the CATA 700 range — the business is offering retailers a compelling alternative to the established premium appliance brands.

F

or CATA Appliances UK, the message to retailers is straightforward: the brand is ready to be taken seriously. With a heritage stretching back than 75 years, CATA has

more

considerable experience behind the name. Founded in Torelló, Spain, in 1947, the company was the first Spanish manufacturer of extractor hoods and has since developed a comprehensive portfolio spanning ovens, hobs, extraction and other kitchen appliances. Today, CATA products are sold in more than 100 countries.

That heritage is increasingly being brought to

the forefront in the UK, where CATA has operated for more than 15 years. Its UK headquarters in

Normanton, West Yorkshire, provides a local base for the business, supporting its growing customer and retailer network. The ambition is not simply

to put more

products into the market. It is to build CATA as a recognisable, credible appliance brand in its own right.

A different proposition

The UK appliance market is highly competitive, with retailers able to choose from a long list of established names. CATA believes, however, that there is room for a brand that combines premium design and specification with a more accessible commercial proposition. That is where the CATA 700 range comes in.

Positioned to deliver what CATA describes as “Quiet luxury”, the range is designed to give retailers products that look and perform at a premium level, while offering attractive margins and competitive pricing. “We’re not trying to be the cheapest,” says Matthew Davies, Product Manager at CATA Appliances UK. “We want retailers to see CATA as a proper branded alternative.”

It is an important distinction. Rather than

competing purely on price, CATA is looking to give retailers a proposition they can confidently put alongside more established premium brands — with the combination of product specification, design, commercial value and aftersales support to back it up.
