CDA Managing Director defies stroke to honour Robin Hood Half Marathon promise

4

Last year, The CDA Group’s Managing Director, Chris Ward, crossed the finish line of the Robin Hood Half Marathon dressed as a CDA fridge, raising awareness and vital funds for Nottinghamshire mental health charities Harmless and The Tomorrow Project, while putting smiles on the faces of thousands of spectators. The challenge generated an incredible £3,000 for the charities. Now, on 27 September 2026, Mr Ward will return

to the start line to fulfil the promise he made after last year’s event. Just months after making that commitment, he suffered a stroke that resulted in the

loss of sight in his left eye. Despite the challenges of his recovery, he remains determined to honour his word. He will once again take on the 13.1-mile Robin Hood Half Marathon in support of Harmless and The Tomorrow Project. The CDA Group is proud to have extended its partnership with the charities for a further year, continuing its support throughout 2026. CDA is also proud to be the official kit sponsor of Henry’s Match, Harmless’ annual charity football match. Supporters are encouraged to get behind Mr Ward as he aims to raise a minimum of £5,000 for Harmless and The Tomorrow Project. With The CDA Group

matching every pound raised, every donation will go twice as far in supporting the charities’ vital work. Glen Dimplex Home Appliances strengthens sales team with two senior appointments

Jeanette Jones has re-joined the business to manage key national accounts, while Peter Hewitson joins as Independent Channel Manager, responsible for developing and supporting GDHA’s independent retail partnerships.

Glen Dimplex Home Appliances (GDHA) has strengthened its sales team with two senior appointments, reinforcing its commitment to supporting retail partners across both national and independent channels.

Ms Jones brings extensive sales, commercial

and brand experience from across the appliance and retail sectors, with previous roles spanning New World, Stoves, Belling, Indesit Company and Ansell Lighting. Her strong background in account

management and commercial planning will support GDHA’s continued focus on building strong national retail partnerships.

Mr Hewitson brings valuable sales and channel experience, having worked with leading appliance brands including The Electrolux Group, Gorenje, AGA Rangemaster and Apelson UK. His appointment will further strengthen GDHA’s focus on the independent sector and ensure retailers have the support they need to grow sales.

Independent electrical retailer On Point Appliances has relocated to a new showroom in Woolston, Southampton, as the business prepares to expand its product offering. The retailer has moved to 2 Bridge Road, Woolston, SO19 2GQ, with the team beginning work from the new premises this week.

Announcing the move on social media, the business described the relocation as “probably the most stressful week of my life” but said it marked the

beginning of “a new chapter” for the retailer. The larger premises will allow On Point Appliances to showcase a wider range of domestic appliances, with the retailer now preparing the showroom for an official open day in the coming weeks. The company thanked its staff and contractors for helping complete the move and that further details of its showroom open day will be announced shortly, when customers will have the opportunity to explore the expanded appliance range.
