ANALYSIS: ECO APPLIANCES Home Appliances

July/August 2025 ertonline.co.uk

36 Liebherr’s Plus Integrated Fridge Freezer (model ICBa 5123)

Within the Hoover brand, the H-WASH 350 washing machine offers strong appeal for energy- conscious households. Rated A under the New Energy Label, it uses up to 51 per cent less energy than a G-rated model. The hOn app unlocks over 60 specialist wash cycles, real-time efficiency monitoring, usage reports, and tips for optimising energy and water use. KG Mode Plus further improves eco performance by automatically adjusting settings to match the load. Hisense is strengthening its eco appliance portfolio with new products in dishwashing, refrigeration, and laundry. Its HV693A60UVADUK Integrated Dishwasher achieves an A rating while accommodating 16 place settings, and freestanding A-rated models are set to follow. In refrigeration, the upcoming PureFlat Slim model prioritises energy efficiency with Total No Frost, Metal Tech Cooling, and intuitive touch controls. Across laundry, all models in its 3S, 5S and 7S series are A-rated and feature Wi-Fi connectivity, auto dosing, and smart cycles via the ConnectLife app.

Green gains

Liebherr is setting benchmarks in sustainable refrigeration, with over 130 appliances rated above C for efficiency and a growing number at A rating. “Today’s consumers want to reduce their environmental impact without sacrificing performance,” says Tim Hutchinson, Divisional Manager at Liebherr UK. The company’s DuoCooling system maintains stable

temperatures while reducing energy use, and its BluRoX insulation replaces traditional foam with vacuum perlite, improving recyclability. Sustainability is built into Liebherr’s operations,

from solar-powered manufacturing to products designed for durability, repairability and easy disassembly. Food preservation technologies such as BioFresh and HydroBreeze help keep produce fresher for longer, while natural refrigerants with ultra-low global warming potential are standard. The brand’s current 10-year guarantee, available until 31 October 2025, gives retailers an additional selling point that underlines product longevity. Alternatively, Miele continues to develop

products that combine performance with low environmental impact. In dishwashing, it has upgraded more 60cm models in its G 5000 and G 7000 series to A-rated energy efficiency without increasing price or reducing features. Technologies such as AutoOpen drying and AutoDos detergent dosing are included to improve both performance and efficiency. In refrigeration, the KFN 4898 A-10 Fridge

Freezer uses PerfectFresh Active to keep produce fresh for up to five times longer, reducing waste. The K7000 range introduces Freeze&Cool functionality and flexible cooling zones. In laundry, the WER865 WPS washing machine offers A-rated performance alongside SingleWash for smaller loads and TwinDos auto dosing. Its partner, the TEL785 WP heat pump tumble dryer, achieves A+++ efficiency while

using steam-assisted freshening and hygiene functions to remove 99.99 per cent of bacteria. Miele designs many of its products to last up to 20 years and supports them with spare parts for 15 years after production ends. For retailers, the brand recommends highlighting features that save water and energy, extend the life of food, and ensure long-lasting operation. Live displays and eco zones can be effective in bringing these advantages to life for customers. The brands leading the way are those embedding efficiency into every aspect of their appliances, and the retailers who can confidently explain these benefits are well placed to capture the growing demand.
