Whirlpool UK appoints new MD
“It’s a very exciting time ahead for Whirlpool UK and I look forward to leading the company’s plans for growth and continued success.” These are the words of Lena Henry, who has been appointed as the new UK and Ireland Managing Director of Whirlpool UK Appliances Limited. Combining a wealth of knowledge across a variety
of markets and a number of job roles over the years, most recently Ms Henry (pictured right) was Managing Director of Essilor France.
Ms Henry said her experience will enable her to build upon the work of the Whirlpool UK team to “consistently deliver outstanding customer care”, as well as new products that use resources sustainably.
PJH in new distribution deal with Miele
PJH has announced a
distribution deal with Miele to bring the full range of built-in and freestanding products – over 200 SKUs – to PJH’s branded appliance offering.” Products from the German manufacturer are available to order through the PJH’s Partners Portal, with next-day delivery
for those products held in stock. Until 31 October 2022, PJH is also offering its stockists an exclusive ‘enhanced’ Miele display agreement too. Speaking about the new partnership, Tanna Molyneux from PJH, said: “The
addition of Miele allows us to not only offer our customers the full collection of its appliances, but the agreement is also a vote of confidence in the capabilities of our national distribution network and ‘first choice’ customer service promise.” PJH already offers Elica, Neff, Bosch, Whirlpool, Hotpoint, Indesit, AEG, Electrolux, Zanussi and its own brand Prima.

Colleagues remember Paul Smith
Colleagues are remembering Paul Smith, who has passed away at the age of 68 after a long fight with cancer. He was Product Purchasing Director at Cleartone Audio Visual, and latterly
Product Purchasing Director at Hamlets Audio Visual. He worked for both companies for a combined length of 20 years. He negotiated with all the major consumer electronics manufacturers and enjoyed frequent dealer trips abroad with them. Mr Smith, who was a regular reader of ERT, was renowned for his business negotiating skills and will be remembered fondly by the industry’s trade suppliers. Mike Hamlet, who used to run Hamlets Audio Visual and worked with Mr Smith, said: “Paul was a strong negotiator for rental, retail and insurance replacement products but always insisted there must be a margin in the deal for our suppliers.
“And his favourite saying was ‘how much (box money) extra bonus are we getting?’”
