Shopfloor TAKE A TOWN Suffolk 32

ERT’s mystery shopping team is back! And they’ve been out and about in Suffolk to check up on the sales skills of electrical retailers across Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill and Newmarket.

Hughes, High Street, Haverhill

This store is located on a pedestrianised street between two national retailers, Poundland and Specsavers. I was looking to buy a sound bar. Inside the store, I was greeted by Stephen, who asked if I needed any help. I explained that I was disappointed by the sound coming from my three-year-old TV and wanted to boost the sound.

Stephen said that, in his opinion, the best sound bar in the store was a Panasonic model (SC-HTB490EK), which was priced at £199, which had a saving of £50 on the normal price of the product.

He said the sound bar had a powerful wireless- subwoofer for deep and powerful bass. He added that the slim soundbar unit slots neatly under the TV. To demonstrate the sound bar, Stephen selected the

Top Gun: Maverick trailer, which I agreed was a great clip to show off the sound bar!

He finished his presentation by telling me that the next sound bar up in the Panasonic range (SC- HTB600EBK) was priced at £399, and supports Dolby ATMOS.

JOINT WINNING INDEPENDENT

Sales skills: 5/5

Store presentation: 5/5

Total score: 10/10

Stephen did very well; his demonstration was very good and an attempt to close the sale. The store was very well presented.
