PREMIUM SDA Home Appliances

“Tower’s share in the premium market is certainly growing in strength,” according to Mr Sharp. “Our own product development has been driven by enhancing design and value – refining colours and finishes to stay ahead of the latest trends.” A prime example is Tower’s latest Xpress Air Fryer Oven – with 10-in-1 cooking functions, new accessories and a printed recipe book, plus energy- saving benefits that are very attractive in the current SDA market.

aluminium body ensures this product is built to last. It also has a front port for further accessories, such as pasta makers, multi-food grinders, and slicers and graters.

Still fairly new to the market – yet picking up many awards already under test – is the Smeg HMF01 retro hand mixer, available in several striking colours including pink, red, pastel blue and pastel green. There are up to nine speed levels, including a turbo function.

The range of Dual Basket Air Fryers (above) and Air Fryer Ovens are being expanded soon with new functions and designs.

Also coming soon from Beko, two new colourways in its Cosmopolis breakfast range. Now available in white/chrome and granite, the kettles and toasters will complement most kitchen styles… “providing an easy, cost-effective way to take your kitchen design to the next level,” comments Beko’s Marketing Director for UK and Ireland, Vijay Bhardwaj.

On your marks, get set, BAKE “Smeg fits perfectly in the premium SDA market,” the brand’s UK Head of Marketing, John Davies, tells ERT. “We enjoy good market share and excellent awareness across many of the categories thanks to our iconic designs, beautiful colours and a strong consumer brand name.” One of Smeg’s most famous culinary classics is its SMF Stand Mixer. With purchases inspired by The Great British Bake Off, the SMF02 and SMF03 mixer models (the latter seeing new colourways arriving this Autumn) are versatile with a number of accessories included. Its 4.8 litre stainless steel bowl provides ample capacity for mixing or kneading and the die cast

Mr Davies goes on: “There is also a smooth start action, which will stop dry ingredients escaping from the bowl! The backlit LED display on the control panel also shows the speed and time of use, which is super slick. It’s a fantastic little gadget!” Bosch does mixers too, with “game-changing features” on the MUM5XW10, according to Ms King. “Integrated scales allow you to weigh ingredients directly in the bowl to save on washing up,” she says. “Plus, there’s an integrated timer so that ingredients are kneaded, mixed or stirred for the optimum amount of time.”

And while product features are essential selling points, consumers also want appliances to be durable so they stand the test of time; with sustainability at the forefront of everyone’s minds, this is increasingly

important for BSH, Ms King informs us, when it comes to using only quality materials. Clare Dixey, Marketing Manager at Bluestem Group, agrees: “In the premium market consumers are making more informed purchases; the demand is for quality products with increased functionality. And being part of the De’Longhi Group, Ariete brings effortless Italian style into UK homes. “Ariete products work well displayed as a family, with food prep, kettles and toasters sat side-by-side. Our striking colourways will surely draw attention on the shop floor!” There’s the Ariete Vintage Stand Mixer, coming in nostalgic Italian pastel colours. The planetary motion mixers are complete with a generous 5.5 litre stainless steel bowl, 10 variable speeds and pulse, along with a whisk, beater and dough hook. Crossing over with a heat element in its multi- function power blender is Ariete’s Blend & Heat AR5780 – great for smoothies, juices, milkshakes, sauces and condiments, plus velvety hot soups with its built-in soup heating function.

Ms Dixey says that the range – all distributed by Bluestem Group in the UK – “is a perfect adornment to any kitchen work surface with their retro colours and shapes.” Then… there’s always the chance to go for something a little bit different!
