PREMIUM SDA Home Appliances

22

The huge wave of new inventions coming from SDA brands means people are spoilt for choice these days, not just with kettles or toasters, but extending into clever coffee machines and fancy floorcare with a premium look and the price tags to boot! Jack Cheeseman investigates.

P

eople love a nifty kitchen gadget! And sales across the SDA sector are reflecting this trend, as the nation rediscovers its love of cooking and there’s growing investment in high-

end appliances where consumers are looking to make bold statements in their kitchens. The huge wave of new inventions coming from brands means people are spoilt for choice these days, not just when it comes to kettles, toasters or stand mixers, but extending into clever coffee machines and fancy floorcare with the price tags to boot.

The small appliances market is expected to grow annually by 4.36 per cent (CAGR 2022- 2027) according to Statista Market Forecasts. And volume sales are predicted to see growth of 9.9 per cent in 2023. Within the SDA category, there are some very exciting developments

in terms of features and

functions, but also with an increasing choice of colour and design options to suit a variety of home styles.

Everyone knows Smeg for its iconic retro designs offering a pop of colour across all its SDAs, and the KLF04 Temperature Controlled Kettle (below) is no different. Not just that, but have you seen the cool mini version? With a capacity of 0.8 litres, the KLF05 Mini Kettle makes up to three cups of tea and has been specially designed with a balanced weight for an easy pour. Available in a choice of colours, this mini appliance is great for smaller households and home office working!

And talking of colours, it’s worth mentioning that in June The Funky Appliance Company launched its award-winning Funky Kettle and Four- Slice Toaster in Gloss Grey. The brand’s three products – the Funky Kettle,

Toaster and Iron – already come in its core colour range of Cream, Rose-Gold Pink, Chrome, Black and White. Elsewhere, Renaissance is one of the premium collections from Tower, the own brand from UK distributor, RKW, introducing on-trend vintage design with a modern twist across kettles, toasters and microwaves.

Gary Sharp, Commercial Director for Electrical, comments: “We carefully selected the monochrome colour palette, chrome accents and gauge-style elements to create the most compelling designs for the consumer.” Celebrating 110 years of Tower this year, the brand is also launching soon the new Heritage kitchen collection as an homage to its Great British design. As well as this, new colourways are coming for Tower’s Cavaletto and Scandi collections.
