News Currys locks down prices with new Inflation Busters package
Currys has launched a series of “inflation busters” to help consumers through the ongoing cost of living crisis. Its ‘Price Lock’ campaign will be based on 2021 prices. The retail giant said this scheme goes beyond its standard price promise to
provide considerable discounts across over 40 products in 17 categories. Prices will be locked down to their lowest 2021 level, then held down for 30 days. Products featured include washing machines, tumble dryers and fridge-freezers. Example discounts include £450 off an LG American Side-by-Side Fridge
Freezer, £100 off a 10KG Hoover Washing Machine and a £71 saving on a Kenwood Microwave. Price Lock is part of a package of three summer inflation busters from Currys,

which also includes a 12-month Pay Delay and the return of Cash for Trash; the latter will be money-off vouchers exchanged for old or broken tech, to offset the cost of replacement products. Said Currys Group CEO, Alex Baldock: “Technology plays an increasingly vital
role in UK consumers’ lives and Currys research has found that 68 per cent of Brits depend on technology for their day-to-day living, with the average person spending eight hours a day using 11 different products.
“Therefore, when something like a cooker or freezer breaks or needs replacing,
the impact on both the customer’s pocket and daily life can be significant. That’s why we will do all we can to make technology accessible and affordable, even now. We’re committing to keep prices down on these essential products that make life easier and more enjoyable.”
Arçelik’s Hakan Bulgurlu: ‘We are reaching a tipping point in our fight against climate change’
How can companies maintain growth without impacting the environment? That is the question that Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of Arçelik, will examine in his keynote speech at IFA 2022 next month. The parent company of Beko and Grundig, wants to help households around the world to be more resource efficient, making innovation and sustainability an integral part of its global
operations and producing appliances that help consumers secure even greater energy and water savings. “Arçelik has been an innovator for almost 70 years,” said Mr Bulgurlu, who is the new president of APPLiA, the leading association for appliance manufacturers
in Europe. In 2019 he also climbed Mount Everest to gain a better understanding of climate change. “For us, innovation is always at the service of sustainability, to develop products that help customers live healthier and in harmony with the environment. “It’s clear that we are reaching a tipping point in our fight against climate change.
Arçelik wants to be a part of the answer to the climate emergency, using our resources and technical expertise to create a new generation of appliances that will meet our consumers’ environmental expectations. The green industrial revolution is an opportunity for our company, and all of industry, to take urgent climate action in the way that we organise our businesses, the way we produce our products, and the way we see our role in society as a global organisation.” Mr Bulgurlu will talk about his company’s aims at IFA 2022 on 2 September 2022 at 2pm.
