TAKE A TOWN Shopfloor Central London 48
Sales skills: 5/5
Robert Taussig, Blandford Street For this issue, ERT’s team of mystery shoppers visited,
and assessed, eight stores across Central London.
Londoner Robert Taussig has been in the audio business for most of his life, starting from when he was a teenager running the record shop in the legendary Chelsea Drugstore, made famous in the Rolling Stones song, You Can’t Always Get What You Want. I was looking to buy a streaming speaker to replace a system that I had fallen out of love with. Inside the store, Gerard welcomed me, and I explained what I was looking for. He took a pair of KEF wireless Hi-Fi speakers (LSX II), which were priced at £1,199 and placed them on a table and he invited me to sit down.
Gerard said this all-in-one speaker system can stream anything, including AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify and Tidal, or you can seamlessly connect the LSX II to laptops, TVs and other devices. He used the KEF speakers to demonstrate the system. He played songs by Rüfüs du Sol and
Billie Holliday and sat back to let me listen to the superb quality of the speakers. After the demonstration, Gerard mentioned that speaker stands are available for both models. A pair KEF of stands (S2 Floor Stands) were priced at £400.

Store presentation: 5/5
Total score: 10/10
Gerard was able to talk me through the products effortlessly and the mention of the floor stands was an attempt to close the sale. The store looked perfect.
