to the Class of 2023! Cogatulatios W
elcome, and Happy New Year to you all! This is our ERT Awards special issue with profiles on each of this
year’s amazing winners! Huge congratulations to everyone that picked up a trophy or a highly commended certificate! We had the most amount of categories ever at the ERT Awards 2023 – a clear sign of how the industry is growing and how businesses are diversifying into new and exciting sectors to give consumers more product choice than ever before. Technology in our industry is constantly evolving, which provides plenty of reasons for consumers to seek out the services of their local electrical retailer. In turn, how retailers differentiate themselves in this competitive market is absolutely vital; they need to make the most of every single customer that walks through their door, or that lands on their website. And the ERT Awards celebrates those businesses alongside the hard-working individuals and the best new products across the sector. Reflecting on the Awards back in November – which was once again a carbon neutral event (more on that, pages 30-31) – it really was a brilliant day and it was so great to see so many of you there. Thank you for joining us! We did things a little differently this time, while taking a pause on the ERT Turning Point Live Conference, we extended the welcome drinks reception and included a magician and a
saxophonist – who were both superb! This got everybody in the celebratory mood! The atmosphere during the Awards ceremony itself was incredible! This was due mostly to the
comedy genius and instant likability of our brilliant host, Shaun Williamson (aka Barry from EastEnders)! His teasing banter and self-deprecating humour kept everyone thoroughly entertained throughout the afternoon – even finishing off with a ‘Barrioke’ sing-along and a bit of dancing! A brand new element of the 2023 Awards was the charity raffle, where we raised over £1,000 for two charities – Parkinson’s UK and the ‘45 Aid Society, chosen in partnership with TRIC. Thank you so much to everyone who helped raise this money for these two worthy charities. Everyone looked like they had a fantastic
afternoon at the Awards, which is what we aim to achieve. Thank you to our wonderful sponsors and congratulations to all the winners and highly commended! You can find out more about the Class of 2023 in this special issue! And guess what, we’re doing it all again later this year! The stage is set – mark your calendars for Thursday 24 October for the ERT Awards 2024!
