ERT AWARDS 2023
Best Independent Kitchen Retailer Showroom Winner
32
Vama Living Vama Living has always been a design-inspired retailer and over the years it has added to its kitchen showroom with stylish complementary accessories, ranging from tables and chairs and giftware, to cutlery and SDA. In 2019, Vama expanded its interiors portfolio even further by becoming a Farrow and Ball paint and wallpaper stockist.

Further expansion followed, including partnerships with Smeg and
Laura Ashley, which brought new opportunities to become more of a complete one-stop home and lifestyle design destination. The showroom offers customers a mix of classic and traditional as well as modern and contemporary luxury kitchens… “Over the years we have always tried to make our showroom a very welcoming and homely place for our clients,” explains Philip Morley, Managing Director. “We have a limited number of kitchen displays but each of them have unique and interactive features to demonstrate the design process and all the colour and material options available. “We often host interiors-based design and culinary events – from live cooking demos with Smeg to interior décor advice with Farrow and Ball.” Mr Morley says it is so important
to recognise the hard work of individual retailers that would otherwise not be seen or heard… “It’s a great honour and privilege to
have received this trophy, particularly in light of the other outstanding showrooms that were nominated! “We can show our customers that
we are able to compete with the best in our industry on a national basis, and that we have been officially recognised for that achievement!”

Best Independent Electrical Retailer – Custom Install Winner Avensys
Sponsored by AWE
“We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award,” Martin Jukes, Head of Retail at Avensys, tells ERT. “Over the last few years we have done some of our most exceptional work, and it’s gratifying to be acknowledged for it with this new ERT Awards category! “We like to think that what distinguishes us is our unwavering dedication to continuous learning and growth, which is evident
in
our recent work. Our projects boast an exceptional level of finish and technical quality, reflecting our commitment to excellence.” Avensys has long been involved in the custom install world, specialising in multi-room audio and tailored TV setups. However, it wasn’t until 2011 that the retailer started to take on more complex and larger installations, utilising advanced systems like Control4 to integrate and unify different aspects of the project. As a result, Avensys can now provide a wide range of services, from smart lighting systems and home networks to CCTV, customised cinema rooms and full smart homes. The company boasts one of the UK’s largest smart home demo facilities, complete with an £80,000 state-of-the-art cinema room, a £25,000 media room, plus a fully connected smart kitchen with hidden TVs and in-wall speakers. Mr Jukes reveals: “Our biggest smart home install this year was worth £12 million! I think it’s currently one of the largest Control4 systems in the UK! We also recently built a cinema room into the shell of an old aircraft! “As custom installation has become increasingly crucial for independent retailers, it’s so great that the ERT Awards helps to set us apart from online and larger retailers, and receiving this recognition is an excellent
way to
demonstrate to customers the value of supporting local, smaller retailers.”
