ERT AWARDS 2023

Best Independent Domestic Appliances Retailer – Small Winner

Abbey Appliances Sponsored by Jura

“We are elated to win Best Independent Domestic Appliances Retailer – Small,” Lyn Knight, Director of Abbey Appliances, tells

22

ERT. “It was a total surprise, and we feel very proud to have been recognised at this prestigious industry awards event.” The business began trading in Evesham, Worcestershire in 1995 and is now fully established as the biggest independent electrical retailer in the local area. It has survived several testing times and has managed to out-live all other competitors in the town, with Currys and Argos now being the only competition within a 15-mile radius. “Our business has grown year-on-year, and we think our dedication to consciously improve and adapt within an ever-changing industry may be why we were chosen for this award,” continues Ms Knight. “We have a wealth of industry knowledge within our team; we are focused on continually learning about products, trends, and the industry as a whole in order to keep our team best prepared.” Ms Knight adds: “There are many electrical retailers, especially single-

store independents, that have worked hard within the industry and have built their businesses from nothing with little-to-no outside investment. “The ERT Awards offers an opportunity for these retailers to be

acknowledged and celebrated, and to ignite pride and passion for the industry; it’s an excellent networking occasion that helps strengthen relationships between manufacturers, suppliers and retailers.”

Best New Product - Small Domestic Appliances Winner

Hoover HL5 Upright Pet Vacuum Cleaner

Hoover’s HL5 Vacuum Cleaner launched in Autumn 2022; it’s two models in one – a conventional upright and a portable vacuum, great for the stairs and even the car. The brand said the HL5 has been designed in the UK to meet the needs of British consumers, following extensive research and in-home testing. Specially developed bristles and a velvet brushbar

mean it can offer a deep clean on all floors, with a suction regulator valve ergonomically positioned in the handle allowing users to easily adapt to different floor types in different rooms. Antony Peart, Director of Brand and Communications for UK and RoI, comments: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award. It really is a testament to the hundreds of people behind our brand.” Mr Peart says: “The HL5 is an excellent product both functionality

and with fabulous versatility; it’s an all-around winner across every floor surface that proved popular in the retailer voting process. “This vacuum cleaner is so versatile – it offers high performance on

all floor types with no loss of suction. Users can clean deeply on all floors and the robust comb actively untangles hairs and pet hairs while cleaning. It’s a real winner if you have pets!”
