Dacombes of Wimborne Mr Renaut continues: “Our business would not 36

have got to where it is today without the hard work, talent and dedication of the staff. On the shopfloor, they really help drive the business forward; they are what makes Dacombes of Wimborne great,” he says. “Alongside Julie’s trophy for the Sales Excellence

Award, we’ll display this one right at the entrance to the store and we often refer to these awards as why potential new customers should shop with us.” The Dorset-based retailer also comments that

“We like to share the news around the town so we even get stopped in the street and congratulated by our customers!”

Dacombes of Wimborne has made changes to almost every part of its business in recent years, not least setting up its own home cinema demo room to offer a more bespoke and thrilling audio visual experience to its customers. Working closely with a few key manufacturers, the retailer wanted to create a ‘wow’ factor for potential customers with an acoustically sealed room featuring some of its best products to create an immense movie watching and listening experience. On top of this, the store also features a brand new

multi-media room, complete with motorised projector screen and 5.1 home cinema sound, which was installed last year, and a smart home apartment including networking and Wi-Fi infrastructure and multi-room audio, plus a huge range of televisions and accessories.

Dacombes of Wimborne MD, Matt Renaut, says his

custom installation team have been very popular recently as customers have had more disposable income to invest in tech for their home. The business is never standing still, doing all it can to

modernise and cater to the ever-changing needs of consumers today. As a result, the company was crowned winner of the Best Independent Consumer Electronics Retailer – Small category and, Mr Renaut says he likes to think that everything the business does, it does well. “We put everything into our entry for the ERT

Awards and I hope the judges could see our passion and drive for the business. “It was fantastic to win this award! And so good to

be recognised for all the hard work of my staff. We like to share the news with local newspapers around the town so we even get stopped in the street and congratulated by our customers!!”

being back in a room with everybody from the electrical retail industry was “really great”… “To see and talk face-to-face with friends and colleagues was much needed, but more importantly the chance to recognise the businesses and individuals that are making a difference in these difficult times is what the ERT Awards is all about. And Julie and I had a really brilliant day!”
