Sales Excellence Award Winner Julie Gray
Dacombes of Wimborne 24
“We are all proud to work with Julie; it wouldn’t be the Dacombes we know without her”
“Julie Gray wears many hats,” the entry statement begins. “She is a key member of the sales team at Dacombes of Wimborne, but also the company’s charity liaison, staff trainer, networking Queen and constant source of positivity!” Ms Gray’s colleagues refer to her as “the life and
soul” of the store saying that she often ends up with the top sales rating as she’s always doing everything she can to assist customers with their purchase. “If we don’t have the right item in stock, she will
search for the right product for their needs and she won’t let the customer leave until they are completely happy! Amongst staff, Julie is always guiding the team and boosting confidence where it’s needed. “Many of our customers ask for her when they call
or visit, and she is often mentioned in our five star reviews online. We are all proud to work with Julie; it wouldn’t be the Dacombes of Wimborne we know without her in the team!” Speaking to ERT about picking up the Sales Excellence Award for 2021, Ms Gray says she was
“absolutely buzzing” to head up to the stage to collect the trophy – which will be displayed pride of place at the entrance to the store, she adds. “I can point out to our customers that they are shopping with the best! “I have worked very hard to polish my sales
techniques to ensure that all our customers leave with what they need and with a smile – so to know that this has been recognised is amazing!” Ms Gray is passionate about promoting Dacombes
of Wimborne across social media and after the UK lockdowns she produced a host of online videos to show customers the store was back open. She is also continually planning events and in September last year, she helped raise several hundred pounds for a local charity by persuading some of her colleagues to join her in doing a fire walk! “I try as much as possible to get us
involved in the community around us so that we are the trusted, friendly, go-to company for the area,” she comments. In 2018 Ms Gray was invited to join the
local Women in Business group where she uses every opportunity to raise the profile of Dacombes of Wimborne. While she is

attending functions she helps to expand the business and generate awareness of the latest products and offerings in the store. “She never stops selling,” he colleagues say. Continues Ms Gray: “We need to practise what we
preach as face-to-face retailers and we all know how the best ideas can be passed on through organic conversations when you’re in front of a person. So getting back to the physical ERT Awards in London was much needed I think and it was great to see everyone and share our journeys of operating through the pandemic and coming out the other side!”
