Hosies is an independent appliance retailer with two stores in Scotland, one in Broughty Ferry and one in St Andrews, offering one of the largest collections of products from all the leading brands with its dedicated delivery and installation service. By its own admission, Hosies has a very loyal and


devoted customer base with people returning time and time again. The stores are held in high regard locally with customers often reporting they’d been recommended to visit. Also, one of this year’s ERT Awards nominations for


Hosies stated: “Whether it’s a kettle or a whole kitchen of products, their attention to detail is fantastic, taking each customer through a bespoke journey to make sure the product suits their need and price bracket.” Managing Partner, Ailsa Redford, who works alongside her husband Graeme, believes this is what made the company stand out amongst the entrants in the Best Independent Domestic Appliance Retailer – Small category. business, with staff constantly taking full advantage of training, as well as virtual training sessions during lockdown. “One thing we did this year, which I don’t think many others have done,” Ms Redford says, “is we


closed our stores for a whole day and took everyone out of the business for a training day with BSH. It was much needed to regain momentum and it shows our commitment to personal growth as well as progression within the business. “The emphasis was on fun with


team building exercises that gave everyone a great lift; it was great for the staff to have a day off from the store. I also think the bacon rolls and cakes helped too!” So picking up this award after a very busy year was definitely… pun intended… the icing on the cake! Ms Redford tells ERT she and her team were “absolutely delighted” and hugely boosted by getting this recognition. “It gives us a real feelgood factor and to our customers too as we can say we are multi- award winning!” She goes on: “Our sales have been increasing year-

You never know what great business nuggets you can pick up not just by speaking with others but listening to the presenters at the morning Turning Point Live Conference.”
