Bells Domestics was founded in 1960 by Stanley Bell; the business opened a showroom for new and graded appliances in 2000. In 2009, it purchased the adjacent property, which is now home to the head office and a large showroom.


I was looking to buy a dishwasher. Phil started


his presentation by asking me if I was looking for a freestanding or integrated dishwasher and I had a preference for graded or new appliances. I told him that I was looking for a freestanding dishwasher and a new appliance.


Phil led me to a Bosch 12-place dishwasher (SMS26AW08G), which was priced at £429.99. He gave an overview of the programmes and mentioned that the Extra Dry option dries dishes extra-thoroughly by using higher temperatures during the rinse cycle and a longer drying phase.


Phil encouraged me to use Dishwasher Salt, and he also said that Rinse Aid was imperative. He explained that Rinse Aid promises shinier and drier dishes, to fight water drops, spots and film and give a brilliant shine. He added that delivery of the dishwasher would be extra.

Richer Sounds, New Briggate


This store is located at a busy junction in the city centre. I was looking to improve the sound coming from my TV. In the store Anthony said that I had two options – a sound bar, with subwoofer, or I could go for 5.1 home cinema system.


Looking at products, Anthony recommended an Onkyo AV receiver (TX-NR6100), priced at £599. He explained that I’d need an HDMI cable from the receiver to my TV, and then I’d need to look at a 5.1 speaker system. Anthony recommended a Wharfedale 5.1 speaker package, priced at £499, and asked if I’d like to go into the demo room to see how improved sound can really benefit the viewing experience – the demonstration used the James Bond movie.


He started building my quote. He asked for my email address which entered me into the retailer’s VIP Club. The total came to £1,289.50, but Anthony then gave me a £100.06 discount.

Anthony’s product choices were great, the demo was very effective, and the discount were attempts to close the sale – as a member of the VIP Club, the Onkyo and Wharfedale would come with six-year guarantees! The store was well presented.


ProCook, White Rose Shopping Centre


This store is located between branches of Schuh Kids and Office. I was looking for a new kitchen gadget and inside the store I was greeted by Samantha; I made my way to the electrical area of the store, which is near the till. The product that caught my eye was the Electric Pizza Oven Air Fryer, which was priced at £199. Samantha joined me and asked if I needed any help. She said that the product is a multifunctional pizza oven air fryer that includes 20 convenient functions in one appliance.


Samantha said that accessories, including a stainless-steel basket, bottom tray, pizza stone, wire rack and cast-iron griddle, are packaged with the appliance. She added that a two-year guarantee is included on the appliance for peace of mind.


Samantha said that the 20 functions available on the appliance are: air fry, roast, broil, toast, bagel, bake, warm, defrost, dehydrate, frozen pizza, fries, vegetables, wings, cake, cookies, fresh pizza, wood-fired pizza, crust pizza, steak and meat joint.
