Journey to success
THE STORY SO FAR
Best of both worlds for Jocelyn's easons rt lass
running her own business, Jocelyn was a highly experienced businesswoman before joining the franchise, but was, as she says: "Ready to do something completely different – something that still used my skills but perhaps in a sector that seemed more fun or rewarding – I was also looking for a better work-life balance.” She discovered Seasons Art Class at a
J
franchise exhibition. “What struck me was how well-thought-through everything was – the curriculum, the systems, the brand. I could see the potential right away, and wanted to be part of something that already had a strong foundation, but that still gave me space to make it my own. I think that only comes with a franchise – a proven model which greatly reduces the usual risks associated with starting a business. You get everything you need to succeed – curriculum, videos, marketing support, artwork – based on proven results. You still have to work hard, but you’re building on solid foundations.”

Franchising also allows people to thrive in
industries they’ve never worked in before. With no formal art background, Jocelyn has built a fl ourishing business by partnering with skilled tutors. Beginning with two classes one day a week,
ocelyn Leslie owns and runs the Alton branch of Seasons Art Class in Hampshire. With a background spanning sales, marketing and a number of senior roles, including
Jocelyn grew this to four classes over two days, with a consistent waiting list. Crucially, the business fi ts around her life. “I’ve got two busy class days, an admin day, and the rest of the week is mine. I walk, go to the gym, and still have time to nurture my business.” Now, Jocelyn is six and a half years in and her enthusiasm is undimmed. With a seat on the Franchise Advisory Council, she helps mentor other franchisees on student recruitment, marketing, and class delivery. “You’re never left to fi gure it out alone – there’s always someone to lean on. Helping new franchisees reminds me how far I’ve come.” With such a strong model, Seasons now operates 130 UK branches. Jocelyn recently renewed her franchise agreement after her initial fi ve-year term. “It was an easy decision – I still love what I do, I
believe in the brand, and there’s still room to grow.” Her advice to potential franchisees? “If you’re
looking for easy money, franchising isn’t it. But if you want a supportive, structured way to build a business with fl exibility and fulfi lment, buying a franchise could be the perfect answer for you. Make sure you engage fully in the recruitment process, be honest about why you want it, and speak to existing franchisees – they’ve been where you are now so can offer invaluable advice.” For Jocelyn, Seasons blends creativity,
community, and commercial success. “I’ve students who’ve been with me since day one. It makes me proud to know we’ve built something people truly value.”
