Collective joy!
Annie Blinkhorn Editor
W
hether you’re reading this before, during or after the holidays, I
hope that your festivities hold (or held) plenty of ‘collective spirit’. Call it family, colleagues, or community, but there’s much to be said for finding more in common with each other, than what sets us apart, and if your future goal is setting up in business, you’ll never truly
be on your own. Even as a sole operator, appealing to a relatively niche market, if your success relies on only one other person needing you – that’s still a ready- made community there! With franchising it’s doubly so – there’s a good reason they’re known as ‘networks’. So, if you want to meet more of your kind of people in 2026, it’s time to register for your free tickets to The British & International Franchise Exhibition (London Olympia, January 30 & 31). This unmissable event promises to launch you on your way to business ownership success. To find out more about the lineup of talks, features and the fantastic opportunities that await you, turn to page 22, then to
franchiseinfo.co.uk to gain your free entry over the two days. We can’t wait to see you!

Meet Cheong and Magdelene – Franchisees, Nurses UK Orpington Husband-and-wife team Cheong and Magdalene are originally from Singapore. Following Nurses UK carrying out detailed territory mapping to ensure that the chosen location has the potential to support a successful branch, they decided to base their Nurses UK franchise in Orpington in Kent. Cheong, a qualified optometrist, previously owned two Specsavers branches before exiting via a successful sale. Magdalene had a successful career in logistics and currently owns and manages residential properties. Together they make a formidable team and will undoubtably be an asset to the Nurses UK Brand.
Nurses UK celebrates a major milestone with the launch of its first franchise in Kent
We asked them why they decided to look at franchising within the healthcare sector and more importantly, why they opted for the Nurses UK brand. Cheong: We had two criteria when looking at various franchises. We wanted to own a business where the demand was consistently high but also where we were providing a worthwhile service to the community that we operated in.
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to be a Nurses UK franchisee? Magdelene: "I would say for anyone considering buying a franchise, you need to look into not only the systems and organization in place, but also the people behind the brand. For us, meeting Roisin and her team was a huge factor. Her energy levels, ambition and passion are very evident. We are confident that we will have the support to help us grow our franchise into a big sucesss" Cheong: "I agree with everything that Magdelene said. It is so important to trust and believe in the people you are going to be working with."
Why did you choose Nurses UK? Cheong: "Roisin, the founder, was definitely a big driving force in us making this decision. Her passion for Nurses UK is so infectious, and we really believe in her vision for making Nurses UK the number one nursing agency in the UK. Magdalene:"We went down the route of Nurses UK as we believe in the systems that they have in place and as Cheong said, seeing the ambition that Roisin has, has given us confidence that she will definitely be there to support the franchisees."
The journey is just beginning, with franchisee number two joining us soon!
