How did you get involved in franchising? By luck! My father-in-law has been a franchisee with WPA for over 20 years. When I left my previous career as a chef, I started to work for him. I liked it so much, I bought my own franchise!

RUGBY FAN A BIG

What was your childhood dream job? Initially, I wanted to be a professional rugby player, but I wasn’t quite good enough to make the grade. I was then focused on becoming a Michelin-starred chef. I was fortunate enough to work under some of the country’s best chefs, but I didn’t have a work-life balance so decided to look elsewhere.

FAVOURITE DRINK: COFFEE

HETEROCHROMIA

My parents, who always encouraged me to work hard in order to succeed. My father-in-law, who took me under his wing when I bought my own franchise. Finally, my  rst boss, who gave me a job at the bakery he owns in my village. He taught me about work ethic, self-discipline and working to the highest possible standards.

How do you relax?

I still love to cook. I also love walking my dog over the South Downs.

Tell us a little-known fact about you… I have different-coloured eyes (heterochromia) – just like David Bowie did. His were from an accident, but mine are all natural!

Drink of choice? Coffee… or a cold bottle of beer!

Perfect holiday destination? My wife and I like travelling in the USA, so we spend a few weeks a year over there. Charleston and Savannah are two of my favourite places in the world!

Dream dinner party guest(s)? Will Smith, Jamie Oliver, Richard Branson, Jay-Z, Dan Carter, and Raymond Blanc.

Who’s providing the dinner party soundtrack? John Mayer – I saw him in concert and he was incredible!

od y you n e fi  o your e Gabriel Macht (he plays Harvey Specter in [TV show] Suits).

Do you support any sports teams? Lewes Rugby Club. I’ve played rugby there since I was  ve and I’m now involved with coaching. It’s a great family club.

Fictional or historical character you most identify with – and why? Mike Ross in Suits, played by Patrick J. Adams. He is a young guy who must always prove himself because of his age. I felt that pressure when I bought my franchise aged 21! Ultimately, age is irrelevant if you can build trust.

How would you like to be remembered? With a smile on my face! l
