FRANCHISEFOCUS INVESTMENT: FROM £100,000 A winning formula Caremark is at the forefront of revolutionary homecare B

eing part of a franchised network has many benefi ts, not least the opportunity to be involved in

trialling new ideas that may come from the franchisor, the franchisee or both. The collaborative relationship that defi nes franchising is the best kind of partnership in which to bring about improvements to a product or service. With the needs of a growing homecare

market requiring increasingly diverse and complex services, it is vital to keep innovating, and never more so than when loneliness and isolation are on the rise. It was this that led Caremark to starting a pilot scheme to test a simple yet revolutionary new way of delivering homecare called PatchCare. Franchisees Sue Hills and Sarah-Louise

White (Mid-Sussex and Crawley) were invited to trial CEO Kevin Lewis’s idea. Their enthusiasm and tireless input over nine months – working with the local authority

and other professional partners, taking Kevin’s idea and making it work – earned them two awards at the company’s annual conference, plus an 'outstanding' rating from the Care Quality Commission. This is a perfect example of franchisees

being involved in innovative new projects, and in Caremark’s case it has reaped rewards for all parties. Kevin says: “I was really delighted to

have worked collaboratively with Sue and Sarah to pilot this exciting project and it is a great example of a successful franchisor- franchisee relationship. All the outcomes surpassed my expectations!” Having a network of franchisees who

are keen to keep moving forward in their businesses while working to amplify the benefi ts of the brand is what every franchisor aims for. This paves the way for franchisees to be part of developing new innovations for the benefi t of all. In Sue and Sarah’s case they had the

double bonus of being involved in a project that has far-reaching benefi ts for homecare and all Caremark offi ces, plus they were rewarded twice over for their efforts. A winning formula indeed! l
