THE IN S IDE S T OR Y
The low down...
…on Vodafone. Head of fra nchise Chris Wilkins explains why you should get in touch with the leading telecommunications business
What does being a Vodafone partner entail? The Vodafone franchise opportunity isn’t your traditional franchise model; we do not ask for an upfront fee – all we ask is that you can demonstrate you have access to enough funds to run your store for the fi rst three months while you get it up and running. Our franchisees take on existing Vodafone stores that are fully stocked and fully staffed from day one. The candidate process involves multiple stages to ensure we select the right people for the opportunity. Franchisees are hands-on and work full-time in their store (or stores), focusing their attention on building and mentoring their teams to achieve and exceed their business objectives.
What makes Vodafone different? Vodafone is one of the world's leading mobile communications providers, operating in 26 countries and in partnership with networks in over 55 more. Across the world, we have almost 444 million customers and around 19.5 million in the UK.
But more than that, we are passionate about what we do. Who we are and what we stand for are at the heart of our business. Our network carries the call that can make someone’s day or a difference to their life. It all boils down to our three key values of speed, simplicity and trust: by

being quick to deliver, while being clear in what we say and do, our customers will continue to believe in us. With the internet, digital technology and mobile innovation driving unimaginable change, we strive to be an admired leader at every opportunity, giving our franchisees the best chance to shine by providing them with the competitive edge they need.
Do you need previous experience of the telecommunications industry? We look for candidates who have suffi cient knowledge of the retail industry. You do not have to have experience within the telecommunications sector, although that would be a huge plus, and a passion for the industry would be benefi cial.
Is there room for more franchisees? We currently have more than 100 franchised stores and are aiming to open a further 100 within the next 12 months. We will discuss store availability with candidates on an individual basis. There is no longer any availability within the M25, including all London regions.
What sort of person do you think would suit a Vodafone franchise? We are looking for entrepreneurs who want to run their own business but with the backing and support of a huge global brand. Our franchisees
are results-driven people. They must be leaders with excellent communication skills and an optimistic and motivated work ethic. All our franchisees are hands-on, working in their stores every day.
"Investing in a store means you become an ambassador of a big-name bra nd with all its support , while keeping the freedom of being your own boss"
