Franchise Focus Win the fi tness game

A new player in the gym sector promises a proven model in a growing market

INVESTMENT LEVEL: FROM £135,000 H

usband-and-wife team Josh Ahmet and Rachelle Solan have developed a mainstream strength gym concept, which was born

from their successful martial arts academy in Orpington, Kent. Their fi rst club opened in January 2013, also in Orpington. The duo had a passion and a strong vision to revolutionise the fi tness industry and to change the cliché of traditional gyms. With budget outlets opening across the country, and spa and racquet club gyms not meeting the needs of fi tness enthusiasts, Rachelle and Josh realised there was a gap in the market for strength-training clubs. Their dedication was recognised by the National Fitness Awards, where they won multiple honours in 2015 and 2016, and were shortlisted in 2017.

Rachelle says: “We built gyms around members’ needs, focusing on achieving results. We believe only in delivering the best equipment with the best service. Being priced within the middle market and adding the value to the members’ experience, our fi rst club went from strength to strength, which allowed us to open our second club in February 2017.” Josh adds: “We saw the opportunity

to provide a strength-training club aimed at the mainstream. Our ambition is to provide something new in the middle market, as well as to get people into classes and educate men and women in weight training.”

“Our franchisees’ success is our success, and we’re committed to creating wealth and freedom for them”

After spending four years tweaking the concept, the duo launched a second £1.3million club in East Grinstead in February 2017. With strength and combat at the core of the brand, the gym off ers a mix of Cybex resistance equipment,

a Jordan Fitness rig with monkey bars, squatting stations, battle rope, a functional zone with a 20-metre sprint track, and a high-intensity interval training circuit. There are also three studios, one of which is a combat zone, and The Fuel Hub, which sells protein shakes and supplements. Overwhelmingly positive member feedback gave Rachelle and Josh enormous faith in their concept and so they launched the franchise package in October 2017. “We want to open 200 clubs within three years in the UK. After that, we intend to launch in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the US,” says Rachelle. The Solan Fitness franchise concept is for entrepreneurs who are passionate about training and business. It’s ideal for those wanting to help as many people as they can through fi tness and for those who want to become fi nancially independent. Josh adds: “Our model is the owner- operator concept. However, owning your own club is extremely rewarding, fi nancially and morally.” Rachelle says: “We will be mentoring

our franchisees to success, as we aim for every Solan Fitness gym to be thriving and strong. We have strict criteria for our franchise model and will only be awarding the licence to those we feel will work hard on the business. Our franchisees’ success is our success, and we’re committed to creating wealth and freedom for them. “We believe entrepreneurs can turn their passion into profi t and we can show them how. We have fi rst-hand experience in every aspect of running your own club from a business owner’s perspective; we understand the frustrations and problems. However, if you have the solutions and systems in place, business is profi table, rewarding and fun!”
