Subway opens 80th store with Applegreen


n Quick-service restaurant Subway has opened its 80th store in the UK and Ireland with leading independent petrol forecourt retailer Applegreen. The 80th store is located within the


Applegreen petrol forecourt at Millfield Shopping Centre in Balbriggan, Ireland, and will be serving up a variety of subs, flatbreads and salads. The store also features Subway’s new


Fresh Forward decor. This modern format offers customers an enhanced brand experience, with a bright new colour palette, clean lines and customer-focused touches, such as digital menu boards and free-to-use charging ports, as well as a revamped fresh vegetable display. Applegreen has been a Subway partner since 2013, when it opened its first store in Gorey, Ireland, which was quickly followed by its first store in the UK. The forecourt retailer, which has more than 250 sites throughout the UK and Ireland, now has 49 Subway stores at its sites in the Republic of Ireland, 26 in Great Britain and five in Northern Ireland, with plans for further stores in the pipeline. Through its partnerships, such as with


Applegreen, Subway now has more than 800 stores in non-traditional locations in the UK and Ireland, including hospitals, transport hubs, universities and colleges, petrol forecourts and convenience stores. Justin Goes, regional director Europe at
