Spain and Portugal join the FCSI EAME family


March saw the launch of the FCSI Iberia unit during the influential HIP trade show and congress in Madrid


A


fter a nine-month build-up, the latest local unit to launch in FCSI announced itself on the Spanish foodservice scene


at the important trade show HIP in Madrid. Te arrival of FCSI in Spain and


Portugal is key to professionalizing and establishing quality standards in foodservice consultancy, says Óscar Pastor FCSI, the founder of consultancy Oh My Business and the newly elected chair of FCSI Iberia. “We aim to create an independent group capable of managing large-scale hospitality projects while also serving as a benchmark for smaller initiatives that require the expertise of high-quality consultants.” Beyond this, Pastor would eventually like to see FCSI Iberia become a catalyst for foreign investment from groups linked


to other FCSI branches looking to expand into Spain and/or Portugal. “Trough our network, we want to guide and streamline their implementation processes, ensuring the best possible advisory support,” he says. “Te goal is for FCSI Iberia to be a


seal of excellence for members and projects as we seek to play a vital role in a market where a lack of regulation has led to unclear practices: being an FCSI consultant should signify reliability and quality,” he concludes. For FCSI EAME chair Frank Wagner,


starting a local unit in Spain and Portugal was always an objective. “We tried several times with different approaches, but never managed it,” he says. “Now with the help of our partners, including HIP, we are finally starting.” Wagner says the new unit is an


important addition to FCSI EAME. “Te influence and importance of Spain and Portugal on the hospitality market is huge. We want to mirror this within FCSI,” he says. “Te members are young and representing a young and modern region. I know how it is to work with consultants and companies from the region and I expect that we can learn a lot from each other. I am very


happy to have such a progress now.” With new consultants and Allied


members present, the new local unit met visitors at the HIP booth across the three days. FCSI Spain and Portugal played its part among 703 presenters and participants in the conference element, as the team hosted an afternoon during Te Smart Kitchen Summit, featuring presentations and panel sessions. Among the speakers was Marta


Cebrián López FCSI, founder of MCL Food Consulting and It’s Enjoyable and one of the driving forces behind the establishment of FCSI Iberia, of which she is vice-chair. “Having FCSI in Spain and Portugal is essential for establishing international standards of quality and ethics in F&B consulting, tailored to the specific characteristics of the Iberian market,” she says. “My hope is that this group drives professional excellence, fosters collaboration, and serves as a trusted reference for clients and professionals seeking expert and accredited guidance.”
