CUSTOMIZATION AND GLOBAL FLAVORS ARE KEY TO WOOING GEN Z DINERS
A report from Unilever Food Solutions UK&I has revealed the key for restaurateurs looking to attract more Gen Z diners. In Future Menus, the group, born between 1995 and 2012, is uncovered as the generation that dine out more than any other – a quarter of respondents surveyed said they eat out several times a week. Focusing on Gen Z, the report found that: - They want to create their own experience: one in 10 respondents only visit restaurants that allow them to customize dishes; and 62% will return to a restaurant that offers this option.
- They have an
adventurous palate: 77% want to visit restaurants with global cuisine; 62% will return to a restaurant with modern takes on
international food; and 60% stated a preference for fusion of food from different cultures. Additionally, 26% said they would be unlikely to return to a restaurant that offers only British cuisine.

COFFEE DRIVING GROWTH FOR KFC IN CHINA Yum China has named coffee as the key to driving growth for KFC on the back of scaling its standalone coffee brand KCoffee in the last year. The brand was first launched as the coffee range served in KFC stores, but since 2022 KCoffee has worked as a standalone concept. By the end of 2024 it had grown to 700 stores across China; Yum China has announced plans to scale to 1,300 stores by the end of this year. In addition to the standalone stores, the range continues to be sold as part of the KFC offer in China; in 2024 alone, it sold 250 million cups of coffee in-store.
