THE IMPORTANCE OF PURPOSE In addition to emotional intelligence, today’s operators must take seriously the creation of a vision for their operation, according to Karen Malody FCSI. “When employees can rally around a true vision and mission, they can attach their loyalty and energy to accomplishing that vision,” she says. Once an employee understands the purpose behind a company, they can align their own values to do good, she adds. "A visionary leader will find a way to balance strategic vision and the more tactical pathways to operational focus. It helps employees understand there is purpose behind their actions," she says.
