El ha tomado su aventura musical a un plano lejano al descubrir un amplio rango de sonidos a lo largo de sus experiencias de vida en países como Australia, México, Los Países Bajos y en su amada Republica Dominicana.

DESCUBRIEND UN MUNDO SONICO.


Su primer encuentro con la música electrónica se dio cuando estaba en la secundaria. En ese entonces, su tío ya era un experimentado DJ que le enseñó al joven Vander todo lo que sabía sobre el noble arte del DJjing. En esos días, no estaba tan interesado en la música electróni- ca, sus intereses se enfocaban más en soni- dos latinos y reggaetón. “ Mis primeros pasos en la escena dance en mi país los encontré en las fiestas Shavreurlegz, algo que estaba fuera de lo mainstream, recuerdo ese día M.A.N.D.Y. estaba pinchando, fue impresionante, la gente estaba feliz y lo estaban pasando muy bien, la energía en ese sitio era poderosa, después de eso me indagué en esa música. Posteriormente, me mudé a Melbourne, Australia, donde descu- brí el club ‘Revolver’, el cual fue mi universidad en lo underground, escuché mucha música y decidí que eso era lo que quería. Mis influencias en ese entonces son David August, Acid Pauli y Nicolás Jaar quienes tienen actos en vivo”.


Compré un ‘Ableton’ y un controlador y co- mencé a producir y a aprender sobre la música electrónica. Cuando finalicé mis estudios. Re- gresé a mi país, y las únicas fiestas que había eran las de Shaveurlegz y Club Vibe el cual estaba administrado por Luk Follin, él me dio mi primera oportunidad para tocar ahí regu- larmente y desarrollar mi camino musical en la escena local.


Eventualmente, me mudé a Los Países Bajos, donde conocí a Shishi de The Gardens of Bab- ylon’, ella me invitó a trabajar con ella, y mi car- rera musical comenzó a despegar, pinché en muchos sitios en Europa. Estoy enormemente agradecido por el tiempo que estuve en Ám- sterdam, me conectó con muchos artistas tal- entosos que admiro, me abrió la puerta ala es- cena dance. Después de dos años de trabajar para The Gardens of Babylon’, decidí que era tiempo para algo más, fue entonces que cree mi propia fiesta ‘Corals’ en 2019, y de ahí todo creció.


En 2018, tuve mi primer lanzamiento en ‘Cross- ing Label’ con el sencillo ‘Blue Eyes’. Después lancé en ‘Stil vor Talent’, y tuve otros en ‘Art Vibes Music’, ‘The Gardens of Babylon’ y Klas- sified de Parallels. Compartía el estudio con Parallels y Joep Mencke.

Dominican producer opens up about his be- ginnings in the music industry, his wild experi- ence during the lockdown in The Netherlands, his releases on finest labels like Crossings, Stil vor Talent, The Gardens of Babylon and Klassi- fied Records, and much more. Vander has tak- en his musical venture even further by discov- ering a wide range of sounds through his life experiences in great countries like Australia, Mexico, The Netherlands, and his beloved Do- minican Republic.


Mixmag Caribbean caught up with this rising Dominican star, who has mesmerized the crowd with his productions, collabs, and performanc- es reflecting his sonic range, genre-blended style, and sultry delivery behind the decks.


UNCOVERING A SONIC WORLD


His first encounter with electronic music came while he was studying in high school. Back in the day, his uncle was a well-experienced DJ and taught young Vander everything he knew about the noble art of Djing. During those days, he was not keen on electronic music; his interests were in Latin sounds like reggaeton. “My first steps into the dance scene were in my country when I found a party of Shaveurlegz, something out of the mainstream ones; I re- call that day M.A.N.D.Y. was playing, it was mind-blowing, people were happy and hav- ing a great time, the energy of that place was powerful, after that I started to dive into that music. Later, I moved to Melbourne, Australia, and I found a club called 'Revolver,' which was my underground college; I listened to a lot of music and decided I wanted that. My influenc- es were David August, Acid Pauli, and Nicolas Jaar, who all have live performances.


I bought an Ableton and a controller and start- ed producing and learning about electronic music. When I finished my studies, I returned to my homeland, and the only parties were Shaveurlegz' parties and Vibe; this club was run by Luk Follin; he gave me my first opportunity to play there regularly and developed my musi- cal path in the local scene.


Eventually, I moved to The Netherlands, where I met Shishi from The Garden of Babylon, she invited me to work with her, and my musical ca- reer bloomed I played in many places around Europe. I am enormously grateful for my time in Amsterdam it connected me with many tal- ented artists that I admire and opened me the gate into the dance scene."


After two years of working at The Gardens of Babylon, I decided it was time for something else, then I created my own party, 'Corals' in 2019, and everything grew.


In 2018, I had my first release on 'Crossing label,' with the single 'Blue Eyes'. Then I released on Stil vor Talent, I had a few releases on Art Vibes Music, The Gardens of Babylon, and Klassified Records (Parallels imprint). I frequently work with Klassified, I used to share the studio with Parallels and Joep Mencke.
