TWO of the UK's most exciting potters, Martin Lungley and Ashley Howard, bring their inter nationally toured exhibition. Full Circle, to the Platform Gallery, starting on Saturday. The exhibition features new works in porce
lain and stoneware that push clay and glaze techniques to their limits. The exhibition high lights the amazing technical skill of these two potters. Glazes range from ultra bright flashes of colour to subtle, age-old techniques used in Japanese ceramics.

RICHMOND’S CHILDREN’S BURGER
with Nick Hodgeson of Rich mond’s Brasserie, Blackburn
FORGET fish fingers, it’s goujons and as for hoops, that would just be an insult to today’s youngsters when the preference is for penne! At least th a t ’s the findings of
Blackburn town centre brasserie, Richmond’s. In launching a new. autumn menu for children, it sur veyed some of its youngest cus tomers only to discover that when it comes to food, today’s children are far more adventurous, exotic and sophisticated of palate than even those from just a generation back. Not for them bangers and mash
smothered in Bisto, but rather hand made pork sausage with creamed potatoes and fresh gravy or grilled chicken fajitas with fresh tomato salsa and salad. Alternatively, they are happy to tuck into “posh” fish and chips - breaded fish goujons

with chunky, hand cut chips and mushy peas - or choose penne pasta in a tomato and basil sauce with parmesan shavings. To round it off, fresh fruit jelly replaces Angel Delight. The brasserie is run by Whalley
sisters Linda Halsall and Dawn Hodgeson and their husbands. Explains brasserie co-proprietor Nick Hodgeson, a father-of-two and a former Royal Navy chef, who supervises Richmond’s kitchen brigade: “We undertook the survey because we wanted to provide a chil dren’s menu with lots of choice, but with the work of Jamie Oliver in mind, all of them healthy options. Adds Nick: “The dishes that they
requested and their likes and dislikes were much more sophisticated than we thought they would be. Whether this is because of the number of cookery programmes now on TV or as a result of children travelling abroad much more, we’re not sure.”
