largely responsible for the present appearance of the gardens and, during his talk, which was illustrated by slides, he led the audi ence through'the history of both the house and gardens and the many changes that had taken place over the centuries leading to the beautiful gardens seen today. parochial church council were Mr R. Frankland, Mr R. Atkison, Mr N. Bury
and Mr II.E. Boden. Officers appointed were Mr II. Thorpe (vice-chair
man), Mr II. Douglas (treasurer) Mr Boden (sec retary) and Mr G. West (auditor).

Spectacular. Arrangements were made
for a trip to see "Phantom of the Opera" at the Alham bra Theatre, Bradford, on June 15th. A walk will take place on May 6th, to visit old and
new boundary stones of the parish and anyone wishing to join in the hot lunch at the Duke of York, after wards, should purchase a ticket in advance. The WI village walk will be held on April 30th, meeting at the cherry trees at 2 p.m. The group meeting will
be held on May 10th in Bowland School, when Mr Graham Iddon will give a slide show on "Cottage Gar dens". The litter-picking session will be at 2 p.m. on April 28th, meeting oppo site the Buck Inn. A coffee morning held at
the home of Mrs Brennan, raised £126.20 for the East Lancashire Hospice Appeal. Members have been
waite welcomed visitors and thanked members for making the posies on Moth
