Sunday, a special day set aside to seek God's bless ing on crops and those who work on the land.
Bishop, the Rt Rev. Alan Chesters, is asking people across his diocese to use this day to pray for those con nected with the agricultural industry.
Writing in "The See", the
that people can pray for three things including increased awareness by peo ple who live in towns to help them understand that farm ers are relied on both for food production and for care of the countryside and the need to encourage farmers to adjust to their new role as countryside custodians.

that care of the countryside and its availability for peo ple who want to enjoy it, is as increasingly important as an alternative to concen trating on food production.
Bishop Chesters says
Valley MP Nigel Evans was in Brussels lobbying MEPs on behalf of local farmers, asking that they be given more help to cope with the crisis they are facing.
O On Monday, Ribble
pean city Mr Evans said: "We are a net contributor to the EU budget and we must fight for fair and proper treatment for our farmers. While our farmers are reel ing at the lowest farm gate prices for years and ever higher levels of rules, regu lation and red tape emanat ing from both Brussels and Westminster, we must make certain that all politicians work together to fight for a fair deal for our farmers."
