Family’s care home

business is booming Brothers move in and triple its size

CARING Clitheroe brothers Simon and Adam Crowther have tripled the size of their family firm in the last 18 months

The pair's Whalley-

based company, Ribble Valley Care Ltd, owns the Abbeydale Care Home locally and the Abbeydale Nursing and Care Home in Salford. It also runs Abbeydale Iiomecare, which provides services in the Ribble Valley, I-Iynd- burn and, for the past 14 months, in the Blackburn with Darwen area. The setting up of the

Darwen office, combined with the fact that the firm won a contract from Black burn with Darwen Social Services in March last year and growth in the Ribble

Valley business, has led to the company's success. Mr Simon Crowther (30),

a former Army captain, says his time in the forces, and the work he carried out running the European Pro ject Management office in Dublin for Citibank, gave him experience managing people and budgets in excess of £3,000,000. His brother Adam (27), a

qualified chartered accoun tant, said: "My accounting skills combined with my brother's management skills have meant that we can really drive the business for ward." The family firm was set

up a decade ago by Mrs Phyl Crowther and her hus band, Kevin, when they bought the Cottage Rest Home in Clithcroe, followed by the Abbeydale Care Home in Whalley. "It has always been our policy to provide the highest possible quality care for our resi dents. It has always been more important for us to be the best rather than the biggest," said Mrs Crow ther.

Gallic visitors to take on local soccer side

THERE will boa Coupe du Monde flavour to a charity football match to be played in Clitheroe on Easter Sun

day. For a team representing

France, the 1998 World Cup winners, will take on a team representing England to meet at Clitheroe FC's Shawbridge ground for a 2 p.m. kick-off. Both teams have been assembled from members of the Clitheroe- Rivesaltes Town Twinning Association, with Clitheroe families playing host to a

party of 35 Gallic visitors over the Easter weekend. Besides the football

match, which will raise money on ticket and pro gramme sales for the Mayor of Clitheroe's Welfare Fund and the British Heart Foundation, other activities planned for the French guests include an indoor sports competition at Roe- field Leisure Centre, a beer festival night, disco and gala dinner. For match tick ets, contact Mr Peter Harg reaves on 01200 426929.

school, who said that Georgina has contributed in ail of these areas, decided to nominate her for the award because she is so hard work ing. Just a few weeks ago they found out that she had been successful. Georgina, whose

favourite subject is French, is extremely independent, enjoys riding her pony, Poppy, and says that when she leaves school she hopes to become a vet. Receiving the award, she added, had made her "very happy". Watching Friday's special

presentation with pride were Georgina's mother, Mrs Sheila Wilson, of Clover Crescent, Burnley, and her six-year-old twin sisters Stephanie and Char lotte. Her father, Mr Keith Wilson, and brothers Dominic and Damien com
