Mad City, Sky Premier, 10.40pm John Travolta has made both good and bad movies since returning to the big time following Pulp Fiction in 1994. The likes of Broken Arrow, Primary Colours and Get Shorty showed him back on top form, while White Man’s Burden thankfully almost disappeared without trace. Mad City falls some where between the two, but it’s great to see such Hollywood heavyweights as Travolta and co-star Dustin Hoffman trying to act the pants off each other on screen. Rating * BOYS DON'T CRY (Cert 18, 116 mins)

Til IS astonishing film pieces together the final weeks in the life of a young man who is murdered when it emerges

that ho is, in fact, a woman. An emotionally overwhelm ing and, at times, deeply upsetting portrait of doomed youth. R a t in g * * * * *

ASTERIX & OBELIX TAKE ON CAESAR (Cert PG, 110 mins)

A BRIGHT, bold, big bud get romp, very much in the style of The Flintstnnes movie, in which actions most definitely speak louder than words. Rating ★ **

POKEMON: THE FIRST MOVIE

(Cert PG, 94 mins)

THIS is actually two adven tures for the price of one: a 20-minute short followed by the full-length main event: Mewtwo Strikes Back. Cute, colourful and a clear winner with its target audience, Fokemon: The First Movie

seems to bo jus t what the Poke-doctor ordered. Rating
