ounded in 1959, Fluid Metering Inc. (FMI), is internationally recognized as the global leader in life science pumps and dispensers, pioneering the first patented valveless rotating and reciprocating piston metering pump concept. It is a remarkable growth success story and one developed with the guidance of Roper Technologies, a diversified technology company which acquired Fluid Metering in 2017. Since joining FMI in 2018, Robert Morin, Vice President of Commercial Operations has built upon its growth strategy which has seen the company accelerate its journey towards strengthened quality and compliance, enhanced operating efficiencies, and most especially launching new, innovative product programs.

FMI’s Growth Strategy

The ultimate aim at Fluid Metering is to meet the emerging needs of the medical device and life sciences product manufacturers with custom precision fluid dispensing solutions. To accomplish this mission FMI will respond to shifting secular trends in a post COVID environment by adapting go to market strategies to meet customer specific application requirements

To implement the strategic vision of providing new and longtime legacy customers with superior valued added services, the Fluid Metering team is committed to execute a three-pronged approach focusing on the company’s organizational key strengths and core competencies.

Enable industry leading personalized customer service and support via integrated solutions with a high human touch from initial inquiry to post installation support. Alongside facilitating a restructured consultative sales strategy capable of helping solve prospects and customer business problems that build long term relationships beyond the initial sale.

Enhance virtual communications designed to effectively market FMI products/services through a variety of channels by creating valuable relevant content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience.

Empower new product development concepts to gain competitive advantage by designing advanced microfluidic technology solutions that meet a high level of compliance and quality assurance standards for optimal functionality and market appeal.

Progress To Date In 2020, Fluid Metering completed a rebranding initiative that introduced a new logo on a redesigned website powered by HubSpot CRM to help streamline business processes, accelerate lead generation, and build brand loyalty while providing top-quality service to increase customer satisfaction. www.fluidmetering.com

Concurrently, that same year, Fluid Metering welcomed Sean Madden to lead the team of product engineers committed to developing innovative custom microfluidic solutions to enhance the company’s portfolio and drive market differentiation to accelerate growth opportunities. Since then, the FMI product development team has been working diligently to expand and develop project ideas creating next generation technologies that satisfy market specific needs.

Most notably, in January 2021, Fluid Metering announced the launch of the FVD Variable Dispense Pump (patent pending). The low-profile design and function of the FVD addresses challenging requirements from the life sciences sector in need of a simplified fluidic architecture. The FVD Variable Dispense enables on the fly mixing for high precision mix ratios and allows flushing and priming all within a smaller footprint. At the core of the system is the patented CeramPump® design featuring a valveless piston liner set for precise fluid control capabilities. Equally important, is that the pump will maintain drift-free performance long-term, thus eliminating the need for recalibration, maintenance downtime and costly service calls.

In Conclusion

Fluid Metering is committed to building a world class portfolio of metering and dispensing technologies designed to meet specific life sciences application requirements with accuracy, precision, and reliability. Looking out over the months and years ahead, the Fluid Metering Team are preparing to launch several new technically advanced microfluidic solutions, make significant life cycle improvements to existing offerings and expand market penetration into new OEM and Life Sciences Industry.
