Stephen G. De May MBA ’94 retired at the end of 2022 from Duke Energy Corporation aſter 33 years. He was most recently the company’s North Carolina president.


Poetry by Shawn Bowers MFA ’04 has appeared in several journals lately. Under the pen name Anita Cantillo, Shawn took first place in a national poetry contest with Blue Mesa Review. Her work also appears in Litmosphere, Ambitos Feministas, and other literary journals. She continues to teach in the English Department at Queens.


Tom Conlan MFA ’14 is happy to announce the release of his second book. His novel, “Gentle Spirits,” became available May 2023 from Legacy Book Press.

On Nov. 8, 2022, Sam Hershey MBA ’17 was elected to the Wake County Board of Education in a five-person race for the open District 6 seat. Sam won over 48% of the vote and was sworn in on Dec. 6, 2022. Sam is now the vice chair of the facilities commitee and serves on the student achievement commitee.

Tammy Gordon MHA ’21 joined the Medical University of South Carolina Charleston on June 6, 2022, as program manager for the care transitions program in population health. She and Dr. Victoria Bhardwaj designed the program using the Care Transitions Framework. The program assesses transitional care processes and supports measures to aid patients in overcoming barriers to care such as social determinants of health through improved coordination, collaboration, and communication between inpatient and ambulatory care providers.
