COVID-19: FIRMS STEP UP -
NEED A CAB, PLYMOUTH OFFER THEIR SUPPORT TO THE NHS
The NHS is really close to the hearts of all at Need a Cab Taxis in Plymouth. They all have amily members and friends who are front line workers and the manage- ment have been really supportive of the NHS . “I’ve had nurses breakdown in my taxi over the last few days from stress. I don’t think anyone really knows the pressure these heroes are under,”
the firm said. They delivered 60 large jars of boiled sweets to Derriford
Hospital on a recent Friday. The sweets were distributed to all departments as a
small way of saying thank you to all staff who are working incredibly hard to keep us safe! The taxi firm also held a rally outside the hospital beep- ing their horns to show their support. “We’re offering 20 per cent off fares for NHS workers, care workers, sup- port staff, factory staff and all key workers during this critical time - thank you for your amaz- ing work!”

we’re all feeling a massive community spirit at the moment.”
A2B LINCOLN, DELIVERS FOOD
Mark Twyman, who’s been a Lon- don cab driver and Berkhamsted resi- dent for more than 20 years, has been giving NHS staff free lifts to and from work since the pan- demic began so that they can avoid get- ting public tran- sport. In recent weeks, he’s also extended the offer to anyone over the age of 70 who needs to get to a medical appoint- ment.

journeys book slots with him so that he can accommodate as many people as possible. It’s an unusual move – but one that Mark feels other cabbies should follow. He added: “Every- one should be doing what they can to chip in and help those who need it. We’re all suffering right now, but it’s still important that everyone does their part.
“I also want to thank the community for their support and
Lincoln taxi firm A2B has been sup- porting the com- munity during lock- down. Vladimir Kub- jatko, co-owner of the family-run firm, says that since the crisis began, they have been collect- ing and delivering the shopping of people who are self- isolating, including frontline NHS work- ers. The firm has also specialised in a deep cleaning ser- vice - which they have been using to
ensure all their cars are sterilised - by offering this out for free to other cab- bies in the city. Vladimir said: “A lot of our drivers have had to stop working for health reasons, but we have drivers who need to work and we still have jobs to do, such as taking the children of key workers to school. “We’ve had really good feedback from our customers so we’ll keep doing what we’re doing.”
