ALPHA TAXIS, LIVERPOOL PROVIDING ESSENTIALS TO CHARITIES FOR FREE


Liverpool taxi firm, Alpha Taxis, is sup- porting local char- ities during the out- break by providing essentials for free. The firm which re- cently launched a delivery service for those too vulnerable to leave their homes, is now working with local charities to help out even more. Collaborating with Home Bargains, Alpha Taxis pur- chased thousands of pounds worth of essentials at ware- house prices, in- cluding tinned food, hair and sanitary products, nappies and more. The products have now been delivered

SELBY DRIVER URGES SUPERMARKETS TO TAKE ON CABBIES


A North Yorkshire taxi driver is urging local supermarkets to take on him and his fellow workers who are “twiddling their thumbs” to help with the in- creased need for home deliveries. Ian Moore, who works in Selby, explained that he and other self- employed taxi drivers are desper- ately short of work at the minute could be used to help with a range of issues. NHS SCOTLAND TO USE HCs FOR TRANSPORT

Announcement from Glasgow Taxis: As of 7 April, we were aproached by Transport Scotland regarding providing the NHS with a Patient Transport Service. Full details have all still to be finalised but in essence this is what is involved. • The NHS will cre- ate Transport Hubs.


• Patients will be col- lected by a dedicated fleet of taxis and taken to and from assess- ment centres.


• These patients will probably be Covid- 19 victims.


• Coverage will be Glasgow and out- lying areas.


• Drivers will be given training and issued with PPE.


• Only cabs with a FULL partition will be used; cash slots will be sealed.


• All cabs will be deep cleaned by NHS after each journey.


• Drivers will gener- ally stay in their cab.


• Cabs will be dedi- cated to this work for around two months.


• A protocol is being developed between Transport Scotland and the NHS.
