RACIST FIFEWOMAN ASSAULTS TAXI DRIVER WHO WOULDN’T TAKE HER HOME
A racist woman as- saulted a taxi driver because he wouldn’t take her home. The Dunfermline Press reports that Julie Greig, 39, was caught on CCTV tak- ing umbrage when the driver refused to take the fare with- out the accused having cash on her. The taxi driver can be heard shouting
“help me, help me” as Greig struggles with the victim, kick- ing him and dam- aging his vehicle. She previously ad- mitted that on December 28, in Dunfermline, she behaved in a threat- ening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a rea- sonable person to suffer fear or alarm
in that she did shout, swear, act in an aggressive man- ner, utter threats of violence and utter racist remarks. Also, without rea- sonable excuse, she wilfully or recklessly destroyed or dam- aged property be- longing to another by removing a taxi meter from its mount and striking a
AXE AND HAMMER THREAT TO PETERBOROUGH DRIVER
A Cambridgeshire man threatened a taxi driver with an axe and a hammer after he refused to pay the fare. Cambridge News reports that Marius Kacionis, 37, used the victim’s taxi ser- vice to travel from Russell Street in Peterborough to his home Paston, on 31 July. As the victim ap- proached the prop- erty, Kacionis said he needed to go inside to get some cash for the fare, but instead, he returned carrying an axe and a hammer. He became aggres-
sive and shouted at the victim as he approached him, clutching a weapon in each hand. Feeling threatened, the driver drove away without re- ceiving payment for the service he had provided. In a police interview, Kacionis claimed he hadn’t intended to scare the driver, but admitted his actions may have been threatening. He pleaded guilty to two counts of pos- sessing an offensive weapon and making off without pay- ment. He was sentenced to 12
months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday January 23. PC Yeli Zaicevs, who investigated, said: “This sentence sends a strong message to those who carry weapons and incite violence. “Kacionis couldn’t explain why he be- haved the way he did and why he didn’t pay his taxi fare, but it’s a relief that nobody was injured. “I’m glad we have managed to get jus- tice for the victim, who was simply try- ing to do his job and earn a fair living.”
windscreen, causing damage to it. And she assaulted a taxi driver then in the course of his employment and kicked him repeat- edly on the body. CCTV pictures screened at Dun- fermline Sheriff Court showed Greig in the front passen- ger seat of the car. After saying the money for the trip was in her house, the taxi driver told her that he was not taking the fare with- out seeing the cash up front.
While leaving the vehicle, she ripped out the meter and when the driver tried to phone the police, she attempted to snatch the device out of his hands. A struggle then ensued and Greig kicked out with her legs before getting out and shouting racist remarks at the driver. The court heard that Greig caused dam- age costing nearly £500. Sheriff Alastair Brown said: “I have heard it said on your
behalf that you are deeply ashamed, re- morseful and em- barrassed. “Having watched the CCTV, I think you have a right to be. The man was at work doing his job. He is entitled not to take you. “You kicked off and that is unaccept- able. The court also regards that type of behaviour as seri- ous.” The sheriff imposed 200 hours of unpaid work and a compen- sation order to the victim for £468.

behaviour. After returning the £40 to the defen- dant’s girlfriend Webb reacted by pushing him back into his vehicle and then launching the blow leaving him with a cut and bruised cheekbone. Webb, 26, from Lon- don, pleaded guilty to assaulting the taxi driver by beat- ing him during the incident at Woolver- ton, near Frome, on
June 29 last year. Chair of Somerset Magistrates, Robert Graydon told Webb: “You put the taxi driver in a really awkward position and someone of your age should have known better.” They fined the defendant £557 and ordered him to pay £100 compensation. Costs of £85 and a £55 victim sur- charge were also imposed.
