Three arrests have been made after a taxi driver died in a crash in Oldham. The 42-year-old was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following the smash involving a stolen car on Hig- ginshaw Lane in Royton on Saturday, February 1. He died on Tuesday February 18. Paying tribute, a call handler at the firm the man worked at told the Manchester Evening News: “He was one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. “He would do any- thing for anyone. As a person, an unbe- lievable guy.

“I couldn’t say enough about him. He was an amazing person. “That was what it was like with him. He has a family and kids.” The taxi driver was in a Toyota Avensis when the vehicle crashed with a silver Ford Focus, which police have previous- ly said was stolen, at about 9.40pm out- side the the Laurel trading estate. Three other people who were in the Toy- ota were taken to hospital with serious injuries. They remain in hospital for treat- ment. The four men inside the Ford got out

man losing his life and his family and friends losing a loved one. “We’re doing every- thing we can to support them at this devastating time and our thoughts remain with them. “Officers are work- ing strenuously to establish the full cir- cumstances sur- rounding the colli- sion and are ap- pealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to get in touch. PHTM extends its sincerest condo- lences to all family, friends and work colleagues of the deceased driver.
