Over a quarter of a million are expected over the four days and we have four days of glorious, Olympian Na- tional Hunt action to look forward to. In last month’s column I highlighted five championship races ahead of trials day.

I will briefly recap…In five of the major championship races I tipped LOSTINTRANSLATION at 7/1…currently 7/1 (Gold Cup) SHARJAH at 14/1…currently 10/1 (Champion Hurdle) CHACUN POUR SOI at 6/1…currently 11/4 (Ch. Chase) IF THE CAP FITS at 7/1…non runner (Stayers) LALOR 25/1…25/1 (Ryanair) My views haven’t changed so I would suggest, if you haven’t already done so, backing them now. But now the reason for the header and our Cheltenham banker is BENIE DES DIEUX. The translation of Benie from the French is Blessed by the Gods and I certainly feel that this is a present from the gods. THIS HORSE WILL WIN! But in what race? The advantage of non-runner no bet with some firms is obvious and you can back Benie to win at the Festival ir- respective of the race she enters. Those odds are roughly a shade of odds-on. But here is the crux…we will only get to know which race she will be contesting next Thursday (5th March) but she is entered in the fol- lowing: The most likely race is the Mare’s Hurdle on the Tuesday where she has an almighty battle (which she will prevail in) against Crack Honeysuckle. If she runs in this race her likely SP will be 5/4. She could easily be redirected to a substandard Cham- pion Hurdle where he is currently either 9/4 (NRNB) or 6/1 with no safety net. Alternatively and hopefully she will take on the crack Paisley Park over three miles in the Stayers Hur- dle on Thursday, where again, at time of writing, she is about 5/2 (NRNB) or for those of you that likes to have that extra chance, 8/1 is readily available. I don’t know which race she will run in and you must make your mind up how to place your stake but what I do know is that BENIE DES DIEUX WILL WIN.
