BOOK COLUMN
HE GODS) KER!!
As this is the last column before the Festival and most of the trial races have been run, here are my final recommendations. As top jockey I fancy MARK WALSH to ride the most winners at a mouthwatering 16/1. Mark is the stable jockey to leading owner JP McManus and shares rides for him with Barry Geraghty. JP is long odds-on to be leading owner and hopefully some of those winners, if they materialise, will come from Mark’s jockeyship. In the leading trainer category, once again the Irish will dominate and my selection is GORDON ELLIOTT at 5/2 to topple Willie Mullins. Both these bets will give you an interest over the whole festival. As to my other fancies over the four days, these are: FAKIR D’OUDARIES LATEST EXHIBITION THE BIG GETAWAY APPRECIATE IT SOLO
ASTERION FORLONGE A PLUS TARD EMITOM
6/1 8/1 6/1 2/1 7/2 5/1 5/2
10/1 Arkle
Albert Bartlett Ballymore Bumper Triumph Supreme Ryanair Stayers*
Obviously if Benie runs in the Stayers then she will destroy the above selection. A Super Heinz on the above seven selections (excluding the Stayers) will cost 120 units and comprises of 21 dou- bles, 35 trebles, 35 four folds, 21 five folds, 7 six folds and an acc and at 10p units will cost only £12. Based on the odds above the accumulator alone pays over £12,000!!
MARCH 2020
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE/EUROPA LEAGUE
Update!! Having seen the first legs of the last 16 ties and before the return legs starting in the second week of March, I can’t help but be totally impressed by FC HOLLY- WOOD (BAYERN MUNICH) who dismantled Chelsea at the Bridge. With doubts over the qualification in various degrees for the quarter finals, notably Liverpool, PSG, Juventus and Barcelona, I would suggest a chunky bet on the Bavarians at odds between 4/1 and 9/2 in a place. And finally to the Europa League and europe’s sister competition. Currently available at 10/1 are WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS who continue to punch a b o v e their weight. It is a long time since European suc- cess for the midlands and I think Nuno Espírito Santo can bring success to the Old Gold. Until next time with selec- tions for golf’s first major at Augusta and Aintree, good punting.
