YOUR COMPANY’S FUTURE THE ROLE OF FEMALES WITHIN

THE TAXI AND PRIVATE HIRE INDUSTRY

It’s been another busy month at Albatross Cars as we

head into the

Christmas period, a period that all taxi firms look forward to with both excitement and a bit of apprehension!

To begin with, we’re extremely proud to announce that Albatross Cars won the ‘Marketing’ award at the Taxi Summit awards last week! It’s a testament to the incredible team we have here at Albatross Cars and vindication of our marketing strategy over the last few years.

My hope is to share some of that combined knowledge with other private hire and taxi firms throughout the UK to help your taxi company grow.

For this article, we’ll explore the opportunities available through increasing females in the fleet as well as some of the unique challenges that women in our industry face and what taxi firms can do to increase the number of female drivers.

FEMALES IN THE FLEET

The Females in the Fleet initiative is a membership- based association in the UK that provides support and services to professional female drivers in the taxi and private hire industry.

We are proud to have signed the Charter which pledges Albatross Cars to actively encourage, train and mentor women to join the industry and provide a safe working environment for females in the fleet.

The recent cost of living crisis has put a huge burden on households and unfortunate as it is, it’s now become necessary for households to look to do some extra work to make more money for the family.

Many taxi firms continue to face driver shortages resulting in longer wait times and cancellations.

An opportunity lies in increasing the number of female taxi drivers and that’s why it was great to see “Females in the Fleet” (FITF) launched by Rachel Dale, of AAA Taxis in Hertfordshire, who is
