Uniquely
An oasis in the very heart of Avondale, the Tres Rios habitat comes alive with music and activities during the Tres Rios Nature Festival. This Uniquely Avondale treasure draws nature lovers from all over!
ALL OF THIS IN OUR BACKYARD!
If you travel south on Avondale Boulevard just before you reach ISM Raceway, you will find a lush, hidden jewel in Avondale. A scenic riparian zone, the “Three Rivers”, or Tres Rios area, is where the Salt and Agua Fria Rivers join the Gila here in Avondale. The Tres Rios area is home to abundant wildlife, and boasting over 150 species of birds, it is a designated Audubon significant birding area, not to mention home to many mammals, fish, reptiles, and amphibians. Here you will also find the Baseline and Meridian Wildlife Area (B&M Wildlife Area), the river frontage of the Estrella Mountain Regional Park, and more recently, the Tres Rios River Restoration Project. The river here is filled year round with natural flow, ground water and water from water reclamation plants. Managed by the Arizona Game & Fish Department, this is an incredibly unique spot in the metro area, a urban wildlife area.
For the past 15 years, thousands of people have descended upon the confluence of the Gila, Salt and Agua Fria rivers in Avondale for the annual Tres Rios Nature Festival, a celebration of the plants, animals, ecological relationships, as well as many recreational opportunities of the area. Kid-friendly activities, educational displays, entertainment and more make this a great event for the entire family. Attendees have the chance to see wildlife up close, go canoeing, try a hand at archery, fish, view local birds, hike, and learn all about STEAM opportunities in the Southwest Valley as we celebrate the Tres Rios Riparian corridor.
Come on March 2 & 3, 2019 for the annual Tres Rios Festival and celebrate the rich heritage and natural beauty of the Gila, Salt and Agua Fria Rivers. Visit
